This is not at all related to this video but have you seen the limited time offer on Chase's Southwest Personal Cards?! 75K SUB after a total of $5,000 in 6 months on all personal cards. It makes the Companion Pass possible with just the two cards again! I've heard its only until the middle of February but would love to hear your input! I am completely rethinking my 2020 strategy now!
I was an authorized user for 1 AmEx card does that rule me out for the 100k platinum offer?
If I have a CSR should I apply for the CSP get the sign up bonuses and then down grade or is that considered two separate accounts? Or is my only option to just down grade? Hope this makes sense.
I generally redeem with transfer partners so have my set up currently pretty complete with CSR/CF/IBC/IBU, AmEx Plat/Gold/BBP, and Citi Premier/DC/R+. The overlapping transfer partners have been adequate for my redemptions so far (Air France, Virgin Atlantic, and Singapore Airlines) that i dont discriminate between the 3 issuers and mainly focus on which card will give me the most return. Will be replacing CSR with CSP though while shifting travel to Premier card and dining to Gold card. Not worried about travel protection so much so maybe even look at Prestige at some point down the line.
Apologies in advance if this is a stupid question, or was answered by you already in another video (of it's obvious and not worth asking.)
After 4 years, how do I go about getting a sign up bonus from a sapphire card if I already have a sapphire card? Cancel and reapply to get sign on bonus? Can I just downgrade (from CSR to CSP)?
Great video! I want the Ink!
Sebastian, kinda off topic – not really but I currently have a Citi Double Cash and I've eyeballed the Prestige. What would you say is a good third for a trifecta? I'm thinking Premiere or Aadvantage? Thanks!
yessss you need to bring that intro back.
capital one Venture card does not provide travel cancellation protection… found out the hard way. couldnt get a refund from a cancelled flight
Can I get the Ink Preferred if I do not have a business?
Got approved for us altitude reserve despite opening 3 credit cards in the last 6 months. Credit score 793
I'm an AMEX user for sure. Works for me with there different cards such as Hilton and Charles Schwab. My business spend benefits me with AMEX points. Don't have any Chase cards. As far as Wells Fargo, I agree they are not the best and true, if you have money they are your friends, if not then you are just an algorithm to them. I do have there AMEX card because I like the streaming bonus points.
Hi Sebby, I did a little research and Lyft does seem to have a presence near me. I can't justify the CSR but it is a nice perk for the CSP given the other promotion partners Lyft has with Hilton and Delta (although they are awkwardly associated through cobranded cards with AMEX). Dashpass and Doordash are a bit newer so the verdict is still out on those. Awesome video, I feel inclined to look into US bank and Citi based on your analytics.
There's a middle ground with Amex between 2 cents Business/First Class flights, and 1.25 Charles Schwab. I get 1.5 cents, waiting for bonus transfer rates, or using the travel portal with the Business Platinum. It is complicated, and takes patience, and probably only worth it with high spend on the Gold or Green card.
@ask sebby I currently have the Capital One SAVOR ($95 annual fee) and Amex Gold Delta skymiles ($95). My first year is coming to an end and my plan was always to downgrade before the second year. But both cards have been good to me and raised my cc limits. I’ve heard of people randomly getting their accounts closed and I was wondering if a downgrade could lead to a “strike” on my profile. I always look for cards with downgrade paths, is it dangerous to always downgrade with a certain bank? I think I would create a bad reputation. Please help, I wanna keeping cashing out on bonuses, guilt free!! Lol
Well i have your top two. I woud go with US Bank Altitude Reserve, Wells Fargo Propel, and Citi Prestige, not in that order.
Chase ink are business cards. What if you don’t have a business?
No CSR for me. I'm gardening until I can get approved for the altitude reserve!
No love for the City National Crystal Visa?
Citi Prestige also gets 5x ThankYou at travel agencies, including Expedia, Orbitz etc. if you book independent hotels through them or otherwise don't have hotel-branded cards.
I'm going to be looking into the altitude reserve for my premium option. I'll keep my CIP to be able to transfer my UR points out and to be able to get referrals. Luckily my annual fee wont be due till December 2020 so I have time to plan.
The AMEX Gold+Platinum Combo is a gift from god and has extremely lucrative membership rewards points and transfer partners. Once you go AMEX you never go back, I'd actually recommend the AMEX Early and then just get the Chase Sapphire Prefferred for the 1 year points churn.
I feel like I should know the answer to this, but do Amex charge cards count toward 5/24?
If you have the CSR now and can still have the $450 annual for another year, it makes no sense to rage quit Chase. You’re getting the same annual fee but more benefits for another year. Reevaluate after next year and by then who knows, maybe chase changes things for the better.
Many months ago i asked what the big deal about the chase cards was. With transfer to the partners the rewards were still less than 3%. The navy federal more rewards amex beats that. Just use the cash back to buy your tickets. i saw that you mentioned the Wells Fargo card.the wells Fargo propel card is a copy of the navy federal more rewards card. In other words, it's the same benefits package because it's an American Express card. But they don't have the benefits of real American Express top tier cards. So, if you can't get into navy federal, you can get the same benefits through wells Fargo.
I think you can keep CSR if you can take advantage of new Door Dash and Lyft perks on regular basis. My problem right now is I have Amex Plat, Gold, CSR, and US Bank Altitude Reserve. I need to make some serious calculations to decide which card(s) to cancel before end of April.
What is outsize value? What is hard mode?
Switched to Green after doing the math. Downgrading the CSR before next annual fee is due.
Well gee, what do I do with my CSP now? CSR doesn't make sense for me. Bye bye trifecta haha (not canceling any cards)
Edit: I mean, I haven't used any points & have ti downgrade thisknth so it's time to review.
I'm at 9/24 with Chase and about to try for the Ink business.😜.Pray for me.
is ritz carlton card priority pass benefit still allowing us to bring unlimited guests?
The Beeeee
I think some people should/have to consider one of CSR’s benefit which is the 1.5 redemption through the portal.
My example:
I want to book a flight from HNL to MCO. I checked with chase portal the flight would cost me 44k to 45k in points. If I were to use through CSP it would cost me 53k to 54k. Transfer to United would 77k (I chose 2/23 to 2/28 as my date example).
So I don’t think people should quickly judge and downgrade CSR just yet. And as Sebby has said YMMV on travel plans. But for me I feel like I have to keep this card for another year till I use up all my points and then jump ship to either Amex or Citi.
I’ve had the CSR since 9/2016, and despite never having set foot in a priority pass lounge, I’ve found it to be indispensable. I don’t put nearly as much spend on it since getting the Amex Gold, but the less tangible benefits like 6-hour trip delay are really nice to know are there. I think the primary rental CDW is especially undersold. That’s huge and, as far as I’m aware, unique to Chase (CSR, CSP, United Explorer and Club). It’s worth noting that the other cards specifically exclude luxury/specialty vehicles, but CSR covers any car up to $75k. I already use food delivery services, so the DoorDash credit is essentially face value. DashPass is whatever because I find the list of eligible restaurants in my area to be disappointing. The question for me will be whether the Lyft benefits are worth $40 a year. I use Lyft, but not all the time; basically airport rides and going to bars that aren’t walkable. Hard to put a value on Lyft Pink, but if that pickup priority thing actually works, in a smaller city where I am, it could really come in handy in situations where there aren’t many available drivers, or demand overwhelms local supple, like when a couple flights arrive around the same time. I guess I still view the changes negatively because I’ve always valued Chase’s simplicity over Amex’s games, but realistically it is probably still worth keeping for me. The CSP, in my opinion (and with the exception of primary CDW as noted above) is destined to become today’s version of the pre-refresh Amex Green: weak earning and benefits for its class.
Nice video man. Thanks for linking me this
Damn … Ritz got rid of the $100 airline credit. Major bummer…..
If i can use the doordash credit this year,
Pay my annual fee- then use the credit again in 2021 before the next annual fee…technically thats 120 doordash credit for 100 more in annual fee assuming I cancel in the following year
Thought about the Capital One Venture card … I wanted the CSR until I heard the news … so guess I’m done with Chase after I get the CF and complete my trifecta.
Altitude Reserve for me.
I'm confused as to why you suggest Amex in the later game. Getting Amex business cards early on is really effective as you won't interfere with 5/24, Barclays, can get more cards without hard pulls while you wait for time to pass between Chase cards.
You forgot to mention the US bank card is also only available to US bank clients, meaning you need to have a active bank acount with them to get this card
Hi,,,I work as a hand-carry courier and I have to travel by plane several times a year,,,,, most of the flights are either thru United or American so for that I would like to ask you what credit card you recommend to apply to take advantage of this job,,, keep in mind that my company book the flights and hotel stay,,,, God Bless You
I have the Chase Slate card. I know it doesn't offer that much in benefits, but I don't use it that often. It works for me.
AMEX fan here…do you need to layer for max benefits!
Amex just gave me a 125K bonus for the Platinum. That was too good to pass up.
