Hey Sebby. If I apply for Hilton Surpass, and then upgrade honors to surpass, what would be a good time frame between the 2 acts? If I upgrade the honors to surpass, would the spend on the honors after the upgrade count towards the min spend, without activating the new card? Thanks.
I HAVE A ? ABOUT A DIFFERENT SUBJECT DO U THINK ITS WISE 2 HAVE 3 SECURE CARDS ?
Will talking a downgrade path on credit card hurt credit score?
What does he mean by 524?
Thanks Sebby, the info you provide is great. I love it when I listen to your videos in daytime. I listen to you videos before bed as well, your near monotone makes me feel relaxed and sleepy
Sebby, have you shared your thoughts on the “Premium Car Rental Protection”, offered by AMEX on certain cards. It’s suppose to be an option to opt into primary car insurance but requires a $15($75000 coverage)/$20($100000 coverage) dollar fee per car rental up to 45 days. Do you use this service?
524 what?? Credit Score???
What does it mean to be under 524? Are you referring to someone’s credit score??
Why mess with these when you can get a 2% cashback (on everything) VISA from Fidelity?
Hey Sebby just want to give you a data point for this year. Used my Amex Gold on 1/19 for a $80 Southwest one way flight (SW is my airline selected with AMEX on my gold card) and was reimbursed on the 22nd for the whole amount. 👍🏻
Would the Marriott Brilliant be a great substitute for CSR since you get $300 credit and status to pair with my chase trifecta set up CF, CFU,CSP?
What is 5/24?
For sure I’m up for the switch to AMEX . Just worry on who accepts them and who don’t .
Should I get CFU, CF, and the get the Amex Platinum Card? Is that a good idea. Is there a better 3 cards?
Soo saw your other vid on getting your first Amex, which is not confusing. I still not clear why not get the free blue everyday card (for the MR points) for the time being since im considering getting the other MR higher benefits Amex cards in the future. Why not beging getting points now with the free card and begin an Amex relationship? Also I'm interested in expanding my credit line for my credit score in the short run.
Other alternatives? Like an Amex Delta, Citicard, etc? My score is outstanding…780+
I currently have the Chase Reserve, with the increase annual fee I am considering switching to the Amex Platinum. But all of my work travel is with United (which is not an Amex transfer partner) not sure if the Amex Platinum is worth the switch. Any insight would be helpful
I've been struggling justifying the switch to Amex Platinum trifecta for about a week. I currently have the CSR, and the Ink Cash, CFU (it's the wife's card so she transfers her points to me). I live in the suburbs so these new benefits don't really apply to me. I do about 1 big international trip a year and the other significant part of my spending is on dining. The biggest thing holding me back is how difficult everyone is saying it is to maximize the MR points with transfer partners… plus Chase is so broad with their "travel" coding it's hard to know if it's worth it.
Under 524?
Love these videos.
If you dont have to pay the yearly fee and you can make the bonus spend which would you go with, The CSR or the AMEX Gold?
Love amex platinum because delta lounge and centurion lounge out of LGA AND JFK COMING SOON. I use uber so no problem getting value there. Amex better than CSR IMO.
You've changed my thinking about Amex; I was set to get the Hilton Surpass card, but then Credit Shifu recommended starting with the Hilton no-fee, and taking the upgrade offer to the Surpass. Then, your videos about choosing the Platinum as the first Amex card made sense, as it's smarter to take that money on the table even though it doesn't align with my spending, and has negative value after the first year. I still gain on the front end.
In summary: Run a 7 Chase, 4 Amex setup.
Wait a few months to go back under 5/24, get the 5x Freedom, Ink Cash, and Hyatt cards, finishing the Chase quartet and a keeper card. (I'll use my CSP for the other partners)
Get the Amex Platinum, hit the bonus, downgrade to Gold, since it's the card that's much more valuable.
Get the Hilton Honors -> Surpass, Delta Gold, and Blue Business Plus (in lieu of the Chase Ink Unlimited).
there's a lot of places that don't take amex though right?
Bro between you and Brian Jung, im learning soooooo much about the science of credit and great advice pertaining to strategic credit card picking and usage of points!!! I cant get enough of your channel and Brian Jung's channel!!! Thanks
I use the united airlines explorer card i like it. I have 4000 miles on united airlines
I have the CSR and amex plat and dont play any annual fees
would love to see you do this video again in 2021!
I too like coffee
Lol I wouldnt pay +1k in annual fees for the platinum, as apposed to the 550 annual fee for the chase setup, nor do I care about luxury lounges. Not to mention the wonky platinum credits that are worthless to people who drive to restaurants/fastfood and dont live near luxury overpriced gyms
Subscribed. Very informative. I'm running the CSP. I've considered the Amex Platinum. It appears the logical step is to downgrade CSP and Get the Plati. I have a few months. Sure wish the CSR would up it's game though..
I can't do anything with Amex points.
AMEX did you one better, they upped the fees to nearly $800. Bet you didn't see that coming.
