I think the radisson cards are great for high spend since you get a free night certificate for every $10k in spend.

I hit 15k on the ascend card and didn't even use the weekend free night. I didn't realize it expired at the end of each calendar year and lost it. It sucks but be aware.

Sebby: I think you may have missed one. The citi double 'cash' card. While a 2x card, the 2x can be converted to transfer partner points or if you have the citi premier can be redeemed for 2.5x as the citi premier has a 1.25x multiplier on points used for travel. Keep up the good work!

I simply use Gold and Platinum for non-category spend because of the transfer partners.

I want the aspire card but can’t since I am waiting for the 100,000 offer from Amex platinum. Hopefully will be soon or they increase the bonus to like 80-90,000

Hey sebby, would you pick bonvoy brilliant over Hilton aspire? And does it make sense to get those over Amex platinum?

$50K spend for Mosaic is by far the best value. perks you didn't mention that are HUGE are that flights become refundable, unlimited free drinks on board, the EMS is for everyone on your reservation! Also, if you earn status this year you get it for 2021 which is supposedly when they will offer flights to Europe so you'll get EMS for those long international flights. I have also heard some people are getting the 15,000 bonus (YMMV). Last big benefit is that say you can put $50K on the card by March or April, you'd earn status for a year and 6 months, and with that status you're eligible for status matches (Southwest) and status challenges. All the other big spend options respectfully are much worse IMHO

EDIT: Another benefit of Mosaic is when you have a delay and they try to tell you you're not eligible for compensation because it was officially a weather delay (even when everyone knows the crew timed out), they will actually give Mosaics compensation if they call as opposed to not having status. The free change and refundable is also huge because whenever a flight goes down in price you can effectively get the difference in price back. The free same day change is also HUGE because that means you can change your flight to any co-located airports, so any LA airports, LGA-JFK-EWR, you name it. So in practice you can buy the cheap LAX-JFK flight and then change it to ONT-LGA which if probably much more expensive

You should've included the Citi Double Cash + Premier combo. 2% transferable to partners or redeemable at 1.25 through the portal is a very good deal.

Can we get a video on traveling with companions? I've always gone myself but now considering player 2 strategies. Thanks.

Did you mean to leave that long exasperated sigh in the final edit? Because when I was watching it came up right before YouTube started playing another ad and the timing was just perfect.

Hey Sebby do any cards in the US have minimum spends required to keep the card? In Canada, the Rogers World Elite Mastercard has been very popular since it has a $0 annual fee and 1.75% cashback on everything and a net no FX fee. However, Rogers recently announced starting June, the card has a huge devaluation coming and part of it is that one would need to spend $15000 annually in order to keep the card. Has this been done before or is it the start of a horrible trend?

What miles card do you recommend for newbies? I fly AA mainly and would prefer one of their cards since I already have miles but I'm nervous they will reject me. I'm currently in college but I want to gain miles for travel.

Sebby what are your 2020 keeper cards, since so many have changed their benefits?

re hyatt. might be better to put non cat spend on cfu and transfer. if you're earning status thru spend, you're likely not spending enough nights for the elite benefits to be worth more than an extra .5 hyatt points on huge spend numbers. it might be better to just get the extra .5 ppd and outright pay for the benefits by booking an club level room for lounge access and breakfast or something. the only catch is that it might not be an option to upgrade or book those rooms on points. breakfast is easy to buy and is lounge access in a hotel really worth all that hassle? the 2 elite nights/$5k is mostly only worth it if you're already putting in a good amount of nights and only a few away from hitting globalist or something

Quick question is it better to pay your credit card balance in full before the closing date (to report a zero utilization ) or bring the balance down under like 10% let it post as a statement balance and then pay in full the next day ?

Hi Sebby, since I’m fairly new to the Amex family ( I have the Delta Gold Skymiles) should I just apply to the Amex Green and work my way up? I think with the 2 combined my Utilization will be between 0-10%. I would use it for my bills and everyday spending .

Waller's wallet already so that you need to spend 130 Grand on the Hyatt just to earn a status if you were to spend 54 nights would only cost you 13 Grand at most and I am also adding in taxes and the median location spots

"in the US, they really don't care"…this statement pretty neatly sums up why smart hotel credit card users work toward point redemptions and paid stays in places like East and Southeast Asia, and ignore the US

Is there any updates on this category seby. Also what about for parents who have bills but don’t use travel credits too much?
