Me: Dollar cost averaging is the way to go.
Also me: Maybe I should wait a little bit before investing.

SPYG is also a good growth ETF. Very much like Vanguard. But it's daily volume traded is quite higher than Vanguard. Good from liquidity perspective.

What exactly is the difference between an index fund and an ETF? Are they really the same thing?

I put 10k when dow was at 18k and I've got a 16% uptick so far. I got DIS, JPM, WFC, AAL, QSEP, SIR, AND DAL. I'm really happy with all my stock choices, I wouldn't mind picking up some ATT, Visa, MSFT, or Apple as well but I'll wait on those, the walmarts, amazons, and netflixes are a little to high and doing to good for me right now.

#AskSebby, Hey Sebby was wondering if it will not be a good idea to buy a Car with my Credit Card and then pay it off right away? I have the funds to pay it off, just was wondering because it is $60K on my AMEX Platinum or Gold and would I get a lot of points from it or is it not even worth the work?

The Intelligent Investor by Ben Graham and The Beginners Guide to the Stock Market by Matthew Kratter I read that are amazing to learn from for first time investors. Also Bill Ackman has a 45min video on youtube about understanding companies and equities so people know what to look at in a company when doing research. Recommend the books and videos for anyone starting to invest.

I made the switch from Schwab to Tdameritrade recently because of the UI friendliness and platforms like Thinkorswim. Just got into options recently too and doubled my small sum of money in just a couple trading days. But I made some noob mistakes by not setting appropriate limits/stop losses. And missed out on some oppurtunities because I fell asleep during market open only to wake up later and find out I missed a giant move while I was sleeping lol

As someone who started investing at 16, I recommend taking a different perspective. Your first $1,000 should be spent figuring out the market, learning how it moves, making mistakes, learning how to research. $1,000 is not going to make or break your life, but it is gonna help you gain enough knowledge so that when you go to invest way more money, you are successful.

Question, I was laid off my job in January and on severance until June so I'm not looking for another job yet. However, I have 401k Roth etc with Fidelity thru my former employer, should I continue with them or move my money elsewhere?

While there aren't many, there are some actively managed mutual funds with a $1000 or less minimum investment that are available. Just be very mindful of the expense ratios would be my only warning as to not eat into whatever earnings you would accrue.

I strongly believe if you can’t afford to invest without the stimulus check don’t bother keep that money and learn about the stock market before you jump in the market is very volatile right now. If you go in look at index and scale in don’t jump into one ticker to just sell when it falls more. We are not at a bottom yet till this pandemic sees a cure or people start traveling more without worry or fear
