I’ve been on unemployment for the month of March and April. My employer suddenly calls and says he wants to begin paying me for 6 hours a day and to stop claiming unemployment. The amount of unemployment is more than what I would get from my employer. It is a school bus company and schools are closed and the normal bus driver duties would end In June. Do I have an option to remain on partial unemployment

Since I owe taxes every year, I was waiting for the stimulus payment paper check so, I’m glad they updated the portal. I’m a W2 employee and my company is an S-Corp. I received the PPP April 17 and I went through Woodforest National Bank and I received a partial EIDL grant.
I read the Treasury can only physically print 20 million paper checks per week. Hence the delay in payments.

The reason it’s taking a lot longer to send paper checks is because of capacity. They can only print so many checks per day at the fastest speed so they have that ceiling working against them. I feel that at some point in the future (5-10 years) they are going to require an electronic deposit either to a traditional bank account or issue prepaid debit cards similar to state unemployment checks (Bank DD or Debit card).

Yes, you are crazy. It's a lot more complicated than you know. For example, people who's income in tax year 2018 was too high, such that they would not be eligible for a "stimulus check," but have not officially filed their return for tax year 2019 maybe filing their taxes late. In addition, because of the phase out calculation people may also want to file their 2019 tax returns, if they have not already, even if they were eligible under their 2018 tax return, because if their 2019 AGI is lower (especially if you are on the line). Finally, people may be sending in Form 1040-Xs to the IRS, which can NOT be e-filed, because they are amending their return such that their AGI will move lower. This would happen if they have any one, or any combination therefore, of Schedules B, C, D, E, & F. This would explain why higher brackets are being processed later, especially for paper checks.

My son’s bank account used to receive tax refund is now closed but he has the option to re-open it without banking information changing. Get My Payment Status is unavailable. Do you think he has the option to get his stimulus via direct deposit if he reopens it or do you think the IRS already tried to deposit it and now sending a check?
