Hey Sebby, I currently have the gold card but debating weather to upgrade to platinum or keep gold and sign up for platinum. What do you recommend?
AmEx has moved aggressively to switch charge cards to credit cards. They’ve repeatedly offered me 10k points to do so and at one point a couple years ago just did it and sent me a letter saying that they’d switch me back if I objected (I did). So I think they increased allowance for losses for credit cards mainly reflects this strategy. Long term, I don’t think they can keep charging merchants so much more in fees if they’re going to grow, especially internationally. So I think they want credit cards to diversify their income.
I don't have annual fees. With 5000 limit. No interest for 15 months
I hate chase . I got 730 score and they denied me . I will never ever applied for them again
GREAT VIDEO SEBBY! I’ve always kind of avoided AMEX since I had a Costco Amex That wasn’t always accepted at all retailers. I think I’ll stick with Visa/MasterCard cards. Great job! 😎👍🏻
I got a call from an AMEX rep…my business plum is nearing 1 year and they recommended I switch to the business Platinum card. Not sure if I can justify the $595 annual fee. It does have the $200 air credit, $200 dell credit, and 1 year complimentary membership to wework which do have value. I’m on the fence. Not sure what to do.
Right now I'm in the 590-660 range, depending on where you look. I'm wondering how long I should wait before I would get strong value from a consultation because I don't really qualify for the decent cards yet.
Great video
I mostly stick with Chase for basically one main reason: they have 2 no annual fee cards that earn ultimate rewards points. However I did recently got the amex BCP for the % back on groceries and gas.
But in theory isn't it better to stick to one bank? Cause too many cards from different banks, sure you'll get rewards, but in small increments to each rather than all your points in one "pot". I guess it just depends on your own spending habits and who gives the best benefits for your own needs.
I believe this is accurate! I called to add an authorized user and right after I got an email offering me an upgrade to the platinum charge card with a 60k upgrade offer. Considering the upgrade for the future. Btw your videos are awesome! Keep it up Sebby:)
Great video & topic – hope you feel better
Good analogy!
I still got the Freaking Intro Delta Skymiles card with 1k on it hardly use it and have asked for an increase on it a few times after cleaning up my credit to 750s and they decline me saying my recent accounts aren't old enough but have had this card for 5 years, but they gave me a Biz Card with 5k on it saying I was a valued customer etc. Go figure….
I'm ok with my gold card because I spend a lot of money on food and supermarkets, but I do have to deal with the worthless 100 dollar airline credit that really brings no value to me, I get free checked bags with delta already and in flight food is bad.
Feel Better Sebby!! J😃💯
Excellent analogy. I have a business platinum and feel like I wish I knew how to do an old school bounce pass before I learned a crossover dribble between my legs.
Yeah me too . I plan to transfer my CO over to American exp. & I don’t plan on using them any longer. Rates are too high .
Can you get multiple sign up bonuses? I have the reserve, ink preferred, capital one, wf and Citicard and looking to get my first amex but not sure what to get and in what order.
If I can only get one more chase card in the next 18 months and I already have the Sapphire Preferred, what would be the best option?
I’m confused some people are able to use the Plat card and carry balance like regular CC but When I got mine I had to pay off monthly and the platinum card didn’t work out for me because I want traveling like I thought I would so paying $450 yr wasn’t worth it I got offer in my mailbox for 70000 points but prob pass
What do you think of the new changes to the Delta American Express cards that was announced today??

Amex us increasing the delta platinum from $195 to $250. 2x restaurants 2x supermarkets 3x delta purchases. I just got the email
Amex is increasing the delta platinum from $195 to $250. 2x restaurants 2x supermarkets 3x delta purchases. Also global entry/ tsa fee credit. I just got the email
Have any owners of the Amex Delta cards gotten emails detailing new benefits starting Jan 30 with an increased annual fee? My Delta plat will apparently get me 2x on supermarkets and restaurants and 3x on hotels and Delta purchases, with a TSA/GE credit, but AF will be $250 @ renewal. Haven’t seen this mentioned anywhere by my fav points and miles YouTubers, sorry if I missed it!
So I understand why you don't book flights with the Platinum, but I'm wondering what the main use of the Platinum would be other than the hotels. The perks and 5x are nice for hotels but I want to get the Platinum but trying to figure out the best ways to offset that annual fee. Any REASONABLE suggestions are welcome. Thanks
I like the basketball analogy, that's actually very good
Just got the AMEX email today announcing all the great upgrades I'm going to get on my Delta Gold card for the low, low price increase of just $4. Then they hit you with the benefit losses. So pay a little more and in effect get a lot less. Guess I'm one of those long term customers who they want either to go up or go out. Right now leaning to getting out. On principal alone, I don't like it when they pull my chain.
TBH, I think Sebby is correct, no company wants bad customers, and AMEX isn't any different, and those who default are bad customers and the easiest way to attract good customers is to put a barrier in front of bad customers to deter them from applying. It will decrease merchant fees a bit but minimize write offs.

Feel better, Sebby!
american express can suck it!
Honestly I'd much rather get the CSR or Citi but I can't without SSN/ITIN
Hey Sebby! The AMEX green is out on their website! 3x categories, 30k SUB, 100 statement credit for away, and more!!
That's a good analogy Seb!
Gold and platinum are charge cards?
Very straight forward.
I pay $95 yearly for the Preferred card that pay 6% on supermarket purchases. Any comments?
I just applied and got approved for the Amex gold card. I was reading the terms & agreement and came across some ridiculous restrictions stating that “ You may not earn additional points for purchases at a restaurant located within another establishment (e.g. a restaurant inside a hotel, casino, or event venue). For example, purchases made at a restaurant located within a hotel may be recognized as a purchase at a hotel, not a restaurant. You also will NOT earn additional points for purchases at bars, nightclubs, cafeterias, and convenience stores.“ From my understanding, food courts is considered as a cafeteria. I also have the Chase Sapphire Reserve and can confirm that Bars, nightclubs, food courts, etc is counted towards the bonus dining category. 😐
Isn't the everyday (not cash, not preferred) a no fee downgrade for the Amex cards?
