So if you have 2 freedom cards you can max both with the $1500 on the return?

If u pair the Citi Premeire or prestige with the Citi rewards card, you get 10% points back when you redeem or transfer them out. Might want to reconsider Citi, especially if you plan to redeem a large stash of points

I currently have the Chase Saph P and have been considering upgrading to the Reserve. It's a bummer I can't get the sign up bonus and I have 1 authorized user which would add another $75 per year. We do travel a lot, so I'm still considering it, but feel a little nervous about making the upfront investment of $450…..Any thoughts?

Citi gonna be dead to me too because I applied and declined me because of too many credit inquiries but I only had 4. Them being the 4th and I thought it was 5 in 24. Shrugs shoulders

Chase’s third party insurance company, who handles their travel protections, denied my claim. They stated that the “carrier statement” provide by American Airline (the worst airline) did not meet their criteria. I’ve tried several times to refute the denial to no avail. Any advice?

Hi sebby. Year 2 for the ink preferred just came. And I don't use it because I have the reserve and Uber card for cell phone insurance. Is there any reason to keep ink preferred open? I don't think 3x points for cell phone is greater than 95 annual fee

Thank you for reminding me to get the Capital One Venture card before it’s too late. I have a 800+ score across the board and rarely leave balances so I was surprised to get a pre approval letter a few months ago offering 60k points after spending 3k within the first 3 months. Went to check the letter and today 10/11/2019 was the last day for the offer just finished the application and got approved with a generously high limit.

I run both Chase and Amex setups, because MR and UR points have complementary uses, for me, so it helps me to earn both kinds of points. My current Chase setup is CSR, CFU, CF, CIP, CIU. I hope to add CIC and Hyatt cards. For Amex I currently have the Plat and Plat Business — the Business primarily for the WeWork benefit. I plan to add an Amex Gold. My plan is:

CSR: most restaurants, transit, rideshare, hotels, most flights
CF: rotating categories
CFU: everything else personal
CIP: phone bills (this is enough to cover the annual fee and provide me with some cell phone insurance)
CIU: everything else business
CIC: internet, office supply, gas
Amex Plat: big ticket electronics and items I want return protection on, some round trip flights
Amex Gold: groceries, some restaurants
Hyatt: Hyatt

Off topic but figured you’d be able to help with your knowledge of different banks… which bank do you recommend for someone who’s going to be doing wire transfers regularly (10-25k).My current banks seem to take the purpose out of it being a wire transfer taking from 3-6 days to deposit. Looking for one that would be same day or at latest 1 business day. Thanks and big fan of channel !!

Good strategy! You can convert Double Cash rewards to Thank You points to complement your new Citi Premier as well!

Can you not upgrade from freedom to reserve? (if you've never had the reserve)

I have the Chase Trifecta and the AMEX Platinum, Gold and EDP. After AMEX added more restrictions to purchase protections and ways to claim the airline credits, I’m going to drop my Gold card next month before my next annual fee is due. I’m going to reevaluate keeping the Platinum next summer when that annual fee is due.

I’ll still have my multipliers for travel and dining with the CSR. The AMEX EDP will cover my groceries and gas spends. I’ll probably go back and forth between the AMEX EDP and Chase Freedom Unlimited for non category spends.

You can upgrade and downgrade as you want?

Reply
Bill R October 16, 2019 - 6:34 pm

Only problem – factually – Chase is looking at reducing benefits as well given the rest of the major cards have done the same. So – in the coming weeks Sebby may be back to square one, but paid for the privilege of upgrading. Will assume he did not get the bonus points given the 48 month rule.

NEW SUBBER thanks I don't feel so bad Capitol One Venture denied me with a 723 FICO score. and then I was approved for the Amex Platinum. after the denial., score dropped to under 700 maybe because of 2 hard pulls in one day, "Hey Sebatian" you think I could get approved for the CSR? Or at least CSP? your thoughts??? I dont want to try and get denied. you think it would hurt to try???? any advice is always appreciated and double LIKES!! Im buying a house in 2 years need more accounts open. I have too few (3) and CARRY A ZERO balance, like you too! maybe that's not always a good thing? I pay off balance before it even posts or right after. so it doesn't even show almost like I never used the card! is that bad or building credit?

Thanks, Sebby, I made $4,000 spending and got my 50,000 bonus point from my new CSR. I’ll play the game because it’s intellectually challenging and like, “beat the system” for fun. My husband looks at me and comments if it’s my 2nd career, haha. I’ll write when I use points earned for travel. Cheers!

Is a Citi double cash and citi premier combination a viable one? Citi premier only for gas and travel. But 2 points per dollar with the double cash would be the highest return on spend for a no annual fee card for uncategorized spend.
