Hi Sebby, I wondered if you’ve seen this passage in “House of Cards”, a book (authors Friedman & Meehan) about Amex from 1992:
“AmEx’s marketing mavens even came up with a new product, the Black Card. It was supposed to be the most prestigious link in AmEx’s color-coded line of plastic. Black Card holders could call AmEx hotline numbers anywhere in the world for a seemingly endless list of services. From sending flowed to hiring a bodyguard, the Black Card program was available to anyone with at least $500,000 on deposit”.
This was in the 1980s.
