Very thorough video! Seems like this one took more work than most. I love seeing where Chase comes out in this comparison. Keep up the great work Dustin! Take care and happy travels!

You say that only chase offers 1.5cpp in the portal, but by combining citi premier and rewards+, i net 1.41cpp through the portal on the 1st 100k/year (rewards+ 10% back). Annual fee of only 95$. Great vid, thanks!

Hi,

I purchased a new iPhone 11 from T-Mobile with trade-in so can get 24 month of installment credit but I plan to pay it off to cover my new credit card’s minimal spend requirement.

To the best of your knowledge, which cards are the best for this purchase?

FYI, I was shocked that Chase Ink Preferred does NOT offer 3 x UR points as this is a phone-upgrade instead of wireless services!

I hope can get extended warranty plus at least 2 x points or Cash-back.

Thank you!

I bank with Wells Fargo. I decided to apply for the wise credit card(Wells Fargo), and I was approved. I recently received an pre approved offer from Wells Fargo for the Platinum card, so I decided to apply, after Submitting the application The system indicated there was a pending on my account, they need to check for verification on a few items? I never experienced this before. What is your feedback Thank you!

One point on your Trifecta. The Citi Premier actually earns 3x points on travel which includes gas as you noted. It also earns double points on dining (which is a wash if you hold the Citi Double Cash) but also 2x points on entertainment. You didn't break it down for simplicity sakes, but for most people they will spend some of their non bonus spend on entertainment which is broadly defined by Citi.

Here’s my cashback trifecta:

– Discover More
– Chase Freedom
– Citi Double Cash

Plan to add either chase sapphire or capital 1 venture for travel.

I have a 5 cards setup to maximize cash back and value, just one have annual fee per say. This set up accumulates me somewhere around 1,400 a year.
Also I think chase is waaaay overrated and the 5/24 rule is really stupid!

I like the US Bank Cash Plus (because you have the option to credit your card account or transfer money to your USB checking), PayPal 2% Cashback (because you can transfer cash to your checking account from your PayPal account), and Wells Fargo Propel for the CashBack Trifecta…plus no annual fees.

Why I use chase?

Referral bonus
Chase freedom 5x
Ink preferred 50k points
Ink unlimited 80K points
Ink Cash
Chase portal works well
Hyatt award nights
No travel partner fees like Amex

Great video! If the Wells Fargo Cash Wise card had 3-5% or 3-5x for groceries and kept the 1.5% or even lowered it to 1% for everything else, then Wells Fargo would be a winner for me. Them not having anything great for groceries saddens me..

Make a 10,7,5,3,1 cards setup for travel points. Example 1 card for all, 3 card (you did here), 5 cards , then after 5 is more like adds on for extra points of combo with cash back.

I as a student/new business owner and a millennial, would still go for either the Chase or AMEX based on the insurances and protections they provide. Although, if I were traveling within the US, it would make sense to have the CITI or Wells Fargo.
That was just my 2 cents on it but overall. LOVE YOUR CONTENT AND THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE GENEROUS CONTRIBUTION OF TAKING YOUR TIME TO MAKE THIS VIDEO.

I’m not sure the benefit to doing a trifecta of cards all from the same bank. For example, with the Wells Fargo trifecta, why would you not replace the cash wise for the Vito double cash? Am I missing something?

I really wish Capital One would convert their cash back cards to points that would really be a game changer in the Trifecta wars imagine the Quicksilver, Savor and Venture cards all working in tandem.

Mr. Waller. Imagine you are retiring to Thailand with a thai wife ( we live in NY now) its hard for an american to get a loan there or a credit card. im thinking the wells fargo trifecta as an end game. i would be doing local travel on the pacific rim, little use of AMEX in the country and would want cards that have no foreign transaction fees. probably continue to pay for american netflix on a card and phone services. are the visa cards no foreign transaction fees? what other combos would you recommend?

The trifecta we have is Citi Custom Cash Mastercard (for restaurants – 5% up to $500), Costco Visa (for gas – 4%, and Costco purchases – 2%, and any extra restaurant spending if necessary – 3%) and the BofA rewards Visa card w/ 100K in qualified accounts (for everything else, including online purchases as the choice category – 5.25%). This ensures that our rewards are at least 1.75% and as high as 5.25%.
