Yet another awesome video bro. What is your credit card application strategy throughout this “pandemic”?

Waller, this is a horrible deal… the bonus went from 80k on $5k spend (16 points per dollar) to 100k on $15k spend (6 points per dollar). Glad I got the "old" signup bonus last year.

Additional $10k spend for a mere 20k points? No way. That $10k could be used on 2-3 additional SUBs.

Funny, because I was looking at this offer in the early hours of the morning. Looks like they carefully positioned the release of this card for either the upcoming tax payments. Ill prob jump on it, because otherwise I was just going to dump my tax payments toward cp for my new SW card. But id rather take another $1K bonus. Thx for posting.

80k offer from a Player 2 referral is the way to go here. You net the same total points.

Currently getting the bonus for the Ink Preferred now. Really happy with the old sign up bonus. $5k is already a bit of a stretch. $15k wouldn't even be possible for me.

“Old offer”: 14.1% return on spend (5000)
“New offer”: 6.03% return on spend (15000).
Would much rather sign up for all three chase ink card sign up bonuses: 15.5 % return on spend. (11000).
Please note these evaluations take into account deduction of annual fee from bonus amount earned and at the cash out rate.

Morning coffee and Wallers Wallet. Only thing better would be coffee, Wallers Wallet and a Hawaiian sunrise.

I’m crushed by the increased minimum spend 😭. The Ink Preferred was next on my list and the final Ink card for me. No more. Goodbye, Ink Preferred. 😭

I feel like Chase is just copying Amex here with their top-tier publicly offered business card. Sell everyone on a high 100K bonus, little-bitty fine print saying you’ve gotta spend thrice as much than the last offer for about $200-$400 more in value. But hey, could be good for an independent warehouse owner and some truckers right now :).

I'll wait for the old offer to come back.

My business is targeted for a two tier signup bonus for the CIP. Regular 80k for $5k spending in 3 months, but also another 80k for $50k total spending in the first 6 months! We could easily hit the spending as I flip houses, but im over 5/24… Once I finish my Amex Business Gold sign up bonus (75k for $15k spending) i am going to go into my chase branch and have my BRM submit (fax) a paper application and hope they can get me around it!

I just applied for this card last night at 10:00 pm…I think I got the old offer…but not sure….looked online at Chase and saw this new offer. I called Chase and got the two week message meaning I probably got approved! Not sure what bonus offer yet:) I could swing the 15K but would rather use that on another card or two. I messaged Chase this morning to find what bonus I applied for.

They should have increased the bonuses to 240k points so it could at least be consistent. This is a rip-off

Reply
Ikaika Arnado March 17, 2020 - 6:15 pm

The new offer bonus is a 6.6% return. As opposed to the old offer which is a 16% return.

The new offer actually provides less bang for your buck.

This is a HORRIBLE DEAL!!!! 80,000 bonus points at 5K spent is a much better deal. The average business or person cannot spend 15K in 3 months. Plus this is a bad time to jack up the spend requirement as businesses are struggling right now with things being closed.

Hey Waller do you know if Chase has any sort of auto deny if you have a secured card from another company? I remember someone saying that Capital One does that I can't remember. I've had Chase bank for 10 years and never applied. They added an offer in the (just for you) credit portion of the app and it shows good approval odds on the Freedom Unlimited. Should I wait till my secured card graduates, or given the current world situation apply now and see what happens?

15k in spend is kinda wild

Reply
Masoom Patel March 18, 2020 - 3:09 am

It seems like Chase is targeting one of two types of people. The first is someone who has a massive tax payment due and can easily put a dent in or cover all of the 15k spend requirement. The second is a new business owner who has initial set up costs that would cover the same. Unfortunately, I fall under neither.

10k is 3 other SUB's, that's only 20k pointsfor the extra 10k of spend. you could get 150k-200k points for same spend in subs. The CF and CFU gives a $200 cash back or 20k points if you are targeted for $500 in spend in same time frame. Now if you have a business and a huge monthly expenditures, no brainer!!! That $15k is my spend for business in an entire year.

Great bonus but Wow $15,000 spend is a lot. Glad I got it with a $5,000 spend with the 80,000 points. But I will say I love this card. I use it a lot with my business.

I am wondering/concerned that they will make similar “upgraded” offers to the CIC and CIU. I am currently looking at those cards as they have amazing sign up bonuses, reasonable minimum spend requirements and no annual fees. I wonder what the community thinks…

If you don't have a registered business and still get a business credit card…..Will just having this Business Credit Card build your business credit? I don't quite understand this. (Personal Credit/score is different from the Business Credit/score right)
