Sweet video! 💪🏽 Thanks for the comparison. I was actually contemplating upgrading to the CSR. Here's a question for you though. Could I get a retention offer for the CSP, and the upgrade to the CSR anyway?

Another difference is the Reserve's Infinite VISA perks. By the way City National Bank has dropped its Infinite Air perk leaving the Ritz Carlton card as the only Infinite Air card out there. And it's no longer available.

When I applied for my CSP last year in January, I got the old offer that waived the annual fee. Plus like a month later is when they increased the sign up bonus to 60K UR and Chase matched me on the new SUB of an additional 10K UR. So essentially I got my annual fee waived and the extra points.

So I’ll be upgrading to CSR after year 1

One thing I really dislike about the CSR is that they don’t offer a referral bonus.

I have the csr and my wife the csp. We will downgrade her card to a freedom after the year. The csp works better for us as we rent cars and enjoy the the insurance benefits as well as we use the portal at least twice a year if we can’t find a reasonable airline partner. I wish they would make the csp a complimentary card to the csr. Like 2 points across the board on all purchases.

My annual fee just hit for the CSR and don’t really wanna pay that anymore. Can I use my new $300 travel credit then downgrade the card?

I have a question im looking in the both card because I'm starting my chase card game I already have the freedom card so that's one down but I wanted to know should I get the CSP for the points because CSR is $450 and the airline credit I wouldn't use cuz I work in the airline industry so what u can tell me that can help me pick one or the other

Went with CSP for the 60k UR sign up bonus with the intent of upgrading to CSR later next year. I can't decide if I should choose between AMEX and Chase for award earning. Right now I am building points in both but wonder if I should maximize the points in one of them.

Hi Dustin, Another great video. I have both cards. Got the CSP back in the day and CSR with a 100K signup bonus when they launched it. Should I keep both?

I might want to get the Sapphire Preferred in the future, the only barrier for me to get the card is the minimum spend required, as i dont have that much in expenses right now or expect it that high in the short term. otherwise good cards.

I’ve just received the CSP and just wondering how I’m going to spend $4000 in 3 months 🤔

It really doesn't matter if they are complimentary cards to each other anymore since you can no longer hold both cards simultaneously

Nice video Dustin. I don't know. I think since I'm in no hurry to get my Chase cards, I might get the Sapphire Preferred first then cancel and wait the 48 months and apply for the Reserve to get both bonuses. Or does Chase offer a bonus if you upgrade to the Reserve? Maybe I wouldn't have to cancel. If American Express doesn't change the bonus categories on the Platinum, I think my first premium card is going to be the Sapphire Reserve. I'm really big on bonus categories. Anyway great video. Take care and happy travels!

You're right about the difference. It's almost like they only had a few ideas and made one a little better.

I can't see any circumstance where the CSP makes sense other than serving as a step-through onto the CSR while getting the higher SUB and you don't quite have the credit history yet to qualify for a Visa Infinite card. This is true especially considering there are the Citi DC or AmEx BBP both getting 2x on literally EVERYTHING or the Citi Premier outshining the CSP in bonus categories for the same AF. Chase desperately needs to revamp the CSP.

CSR no doubt about it

I applied for the Preferred because I wasn’t sure if I would be approved the Reserve… I even opened a bank account with Chase and moved all of my banking to them just to get an offer. The offer finally did come about a month and a half after I open my bank account, once I was approved for the preferred and saw how high the credit limit was I realized I probably could’ve gotten approved for the reserve. So in May when the card is up for renewal I will simply upgrade it. I was told that the reason why the Sapphire Reserve sign up bonus is lower is because both sign up bonuses are worth $750. 🙂

Thanks Waller. You answered my question about getting (or not getting) points for the $300 CSR Travel Credit. My application for the CSP is currently Pending. I hope you go somewhere nice on that referral bonus

I think Imma go with the reserve. Was thinking about the CSP but I want to go big or go home.

I’d go with the CSP first for the bigger sign up bonus, then move to the CSR after a year

I am new at this started in Sept. 19 and I have accumulated 307k points plus 61k in my Hyatt card. Cuz of Covid I haven't used any points. I have all the Chase cards but the Sapphire I will not gain anything if I get the Preferred because I have the Ink Preferred and I am not sure if is worth to get the Reserve, I would get the bonus plus the .25 increase about 76k points relative to the Preferred. I will be waiting till next summer to make a decision. Any suggestion is welcome. I plan to use the portal and Hyatt mostly.
