Ouch! Without paid lounge access, the Delta gold card will be worthless to me.

I have the Delta Platinum mainly for the companion certificate, checked bags and boarding is a plus. I can gift the global entry credit for my wife. Chasing status really isnt my thing so thats no bummer. NOW, if they took away the companion certificate that will be grounds to cancel. As with everything we do in this game, YMMV.

I actually like these changes and thinking about picking up the Delta Platinum card in the future for the companion certificate. The miles boost/status boost doesn't really bother me and the bonus multipliers that are added to the cards are great. Before, the AAdvantage Platinum Select was basically the only airline card where you could earn miles at places other than directly with the airline. Awesome video Dustin thanks for staying up late for this presentation. Happy travels!

The Reserve Business used to earn miles and status through 60k in spend. Now I am expected to spend 120k on status, 30k for the hell of it, to finally get 1.5X. If I spend 300k, wow, an average of 1.25X.

I will be switching to the Delta Plat Business before renewal. At least I can still get 1.5X on 5K purchase, and need a 2nd Global Entry Credit. Overall this is all negative, but at least I have an angle to not get hosed on the earnings and rewards.

Oh and I wouldn't expect much out of Reserve complementary upgrades. They're much harder to get now that Delta added an upgrade with points option for everyone, and they'll likely still give priority to anyone with greater status. The Reserve already gives you the hedge if all things are equal, not sure if this even a real update.

Bummer for the gold. I wanted to like this long term after year 1. Oh well. The rest of these absolutely not. Those new annual fees are too much.

I really, really hope an airline would have a credit card that gives at least low-tier status for their premium card. Like the Aspire or Bonvoy Brilliant. Great video.

These higher annual fees are making the AMEX Platinum look like a keeper card. 29 dollar Delta Sky Club access when flying Delta, plus the centurion club access not mention all the other benefits.

Another great video! I’ll be canceling my gold card when the annual fee renewal hits in a few months (unless they offer to waive the fee for another year).

Great analysis. I would agree with the general consensus that unless you are chasing status or fly Delta a lot with checked bags, there is no reason to have any of these instead of just getting 5X with Amex Platinum.

Still get the free checked bag for Delta Gold, so I'll downgrade my Delta Platinum to Delta Gold.

I would’ve been okay with most of these changes, but the AF increases for the Platinum and Reserve cards isn’t warranted imo.

Honestly, I’ve had my Delta card for several years and have NEVER used the companion certificate. They made it quite hard the one time I wanted to use it on a Vegas flight. It seems they like you to plan the companion fares at least 3 months or more in advance to get the Companion seats.

Thanks for a great video. IMHO, it’s the Delta Gold Business card that still makes some sense to own. The other changes are pretty much negatively impacted on the cardholders.

How about the delta reserve companion pass for first class ticket? It’s a very good perk to me.

Damn, I was actually considering getting the Reserve or Platinum but now with the changes and price increases which in my opinion are not worth it, it's definitely a no go for me! 1x on everything else unless you use it for Delta purchase on a the Reserve, are you kidding me? This is such garbage! Then the Centurion fine print sucks as well. At least make it where it's 3x on Gas, Supermarket, Restaurants and any traveling such as Uber, car rentals, hotel bookings etc. to make it worthwhile and allow Centurion Access without any of the BS, it's not there are thousands world wide.
