I was also thinking about applying for the flex card, but that would give me the freedom and flex, so one more account I really do not use and already having the preferred and not sure it’s worth it, I was thinking of a product switch instead. The main card I use is the gold, I can see keeping the preferred for the point transfer and booking bonus though. So many options, just not sure with the little travel if both the gold and preferred are needed. The signup bonus and 5% is tempting

during this time when prices are depressed and points are worth relatively less, I'd be glad to just pay cash out of pocket (since at this time cash cost is lower for the same trip), and save the points for future vacations. in fact i did just that for my recent trip back to seattle visiting friends. it hurts me so much to see you get so little value out of your points.

How did you get so many Chase points?
I don't think you made a bad deal. I would have done the same thing. Points are points…they're worth nothing until redeemed. You can always earn more points…I would have kept the $10k in the bank like you did and used points. Here's to hoping you and the family get to enjoy that new BA service.
How do you determine value of points, like when you transferred points to BA and said you only got 1.25 cents per point. How do you determine the 1.25? Thanks!
Safe travels Benjamin. Good for you. So many people hoard points for the “best” value and never use them (me). You will be able to enjoy being pampered on the way to visit family. You know as well as anyone that these points are worth NOTHING until redeemed.
