As a Canadian 🇨🇦 I can’t access Chase cards for my use OR for referrals 😐
I’ve gotten a few referrals from Amex cards though, which is definitely nice.
I’m always hustling my links.

I wish you posted this up a few days sooner. My friend applied for the FU card and approved. No idea I could of referred him while only holding Freedom card. Good info though.

If you refer a friend for say the Freedom, they get the $200 welcome bonus but do they already get the opportunity for the sign up bonus? (Spend $500 for another $200)

The income from referrals does not "become taxable" when a 1099 is issued. It is taxable even if you did not receive a 1099.
If you made just one single point, worth only one penny, you owe taxes on it, even though you do not receive a 1099.
Sometimes the IRS will do sweep audits for payouts made without 1099s issued in order to catch people who did not volunteer the non 1099 income. So consider it a trap or a test when you do not get your 1099. If you think, "good, that money was tax free", then you are in for a surprise.

Quick question is it better to pay your credit card balance in full before the closing date (to report a zero utilization ) or bring the balance down under like 10% let it post as a statement balance and then pay in full the next day ?
Well now, you no longer can refer the Chase Freedom card at all. Which is very lame on Chases end.
Ink cards are no longer eligible for referrals …
