Requesting an invitation has been around for a few months. I think they are using this for potential invites to the "Optio" card.

I'm actually a proud member of the "Mile High Club" but I don't think I'll qualify for the American Express Centurion card unless they're accepting Mile High Club members who also have both the AmEx Platinum and Gold card like I do.
Imagine going into debt so much that American Distress allows you to go into unlimited debt 😂 it’s so silly to “work your way up the card ladder”
This company is literally charging you $15,000 to be allowed to go into debt to them. How stupid is that? Meanwhile I’m over here with the same money you spend on your fancy black card, plus I have the $15,000 in my bank still.

why does the centurion black not kick off in europe,is it because amex is doeing very bad on the mainland?difficult to find loads of shops acepting the amex ,so being amble to spend 350k is difficult? your toughts please
Hi Credit Shifu, for Singapore, you need to have a Platinum charge card first for at least 3 years, in good standing. And you must spend at the very least $300k per year. Referring friends does not help to skip these requirements. Amex Singapore is very strict and does not want to increase the number of Centurion cardmembers. The total number of Centurion cardmembers is pretty much limited for many years. They will of course allow Centurion cardmembers who transfer over, such as from US to Singapore.

I've had a lot of the same thoughts on their motivations. But to be honest, if I'm applying for the Centurion and then offered a "consolation prize" of some lesser card, I'm not going to be happy with Amex. In reality, if they have people who are making a very good income ($400k – $500k puts you in the top 1%) and have a high net worth (>$1M, let's say), and they're willing to give Amex $15k in year 1, followed by $5k every year thereafter, Amex SHOULD be accepting them. Honestly, there are a LOT of very wealthy people out there who aren't going to spend $250k/year or more… but they may be spending $100k or $150k… why should Amex be turning them away? Amex shareholders should NOT be happy with the company essentially turning away $15k per applicant! What company, especially in this climate, should be turning away that opportunity AND that customer base? Seems silly. The card would still be exceptionally exclusive, but Amex would be that much richer, have that many more high end clients, and create a BETTER value proposition for their partners.

I flew out of Las Vegas on March 14 2020 (before the city shut down) and I got to the Lounge 3 hours and 7 minutes before my schedule flight. I go to it so quickly cause there was no line at TSA security. Amex has a rule that you cant enter the lounge if your schedule flight is more than 3 hours away. The lady at the counter told me I had to go sit outside and wait for 7 minutes and than I could enter. If I had had a Black Card would she still had me wait outside for those 7 minutes?
That info has been around for a while. No point even trying if you're not spending 200k on NON-business stuff
