13:05 Ben, to clarify, those taxes/fees are charged on the dollar (or quid) value equivalent of the flight?

Thanks for the video, I found it very Interesting but I'm very glad I do business in America and all my CC's are based in the US.

I have this card and as a single card holder. It’s difficult to acquire enough Avios for a Business/First class ticket without a second card holder or purchasing more points. Plus the fact that you need to pay taxes and fees per person which are £500+ for flights outside Europe.

Let me just say this card is one of those bittersweet cards. (Mostly bitter, due to hardly any perks)

There's another difference on the companion voucher. The voucher earned on the blue card will be valid only for 1 year. The voucher earned on the black card will be valid for 2 years.

And that's a big difference as you also have to take the outbound flight before it expires.

The irony of the anti-Brexit jokes that Credit Shifu made in his Star Trek Tech videos, and now he complains about the EU and what restrictions it puts on U.K. credit cards. 😉🤣

Hey Ben,
Loving the UK 🇬🇧 content.

It really does highlight how poor the UK market is for benefits. I've heard this is due to tougher legislation and regulation, therefore lower margins.

One good tip I've learned is that if you have the blue BA card, and you know you're going to NEED that companion voucher, if you've spent over £10k but under £20k, you can upgrade the card to the black BA, yes you'll pay the annual fee, but you'll immediately be granted the companion voucher 😉. Nothing preventing you from downgrading against once it's used or the renewal comes along. It is always worthwhile, if you know you're going to travel appropriately and I've had many amazing holidays on that voucher and avois combined!

Thanks for this video, I was just looking into which of these cards to get and they really aren't as good as some of your AMEX cards in the US.

Why are credit cards sooo bad in the UK from pretty much all perspectives? Is there any hope for us or do I need to move over to the states?

I know this is a old video but I’ve just got the platinum everyday Amex (UK version) at 19 with a £5k limit, 5% cash back welcome bonus in the first 6 months. I honestly tho get why 90% of people here use debit cards due to the rewards on non Amex cards being awful.

Is the black card worth it if I’m only looking to spend a maximum of 250-300 a month ?

I wish the UK had cards like you have in the USA. I tried the Gold Charge Card and got rid of it before its first year was up. Then I got the Black Card for 195 pounds. I used it to get the 30,000 Avios and cancelled it before I had to pay for year 2. Now I have the free Blue Card. It I cancel it I won't qualify for another welcome reward for 24 months. It used to be 6 months. So that is annoying.

It will cost more than £100 to get from London to Inverness. The only way this works is if you live in Scotland.
