The Las Vegas Convention Center is getting ready to open its massive West Hall expansion. As part of the expansion the first 3 stations of the proposed Vegas Loop will open (LVCC Loop). This Vegas Loop system ushers riders between 3 Las Vegas Convention Center stations in Teslas going through .8 mile underground tunnels dug out by the Boring Company.

In this inside look at Vegas Loop I’ll show you each of the three stations including the impressive multi-colored underground Central Station just below the Main Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center. I’ll also show you how the system runs and what it is like to head down into the Tesla Tunnels running just below Las Vegas.

The big question for Vegas Loop is its capacity. They are testing the system to see if matches up to what they need, but it is running fairly efficiently. They have procedures for pretty much any issue that could arise and their boarding process is straightforward with the Tesla ride being fun and quick. The drivers are super friendly too! Check out our first look at Vegas Loop and don’t forget to leave a comment to let me know what you think.

Self driving cars with a driver, driving through a small tunnel, with passengers crossing road to get to the loading & uploading area. A someone thinks this is a good idea? Trams at amusement parks carry more people with less drivers a helluva lot less. Hey, but weren’t the cars supposed to be driverless and move faster. I can’t wait to see how long the lines are when CES happens in January.

Could you imagine one of those Teslas catching on fire in that tunnel? Can you open the car door in that tunnel? What about escape routes?

This is a disaster waiting to happen. Imagine if some Tesla's battery caught fire or the car broke down in the middle of the tunnel. Then what? There is no evacuation tunnel and driving any battery powered thing inside such a narrow tunnel is risky. As the aforementioned fire can instantly cause death because of all the toxic fumes. Also relying on humans to constantly drive around in a loop for 8 hours a day is fatiguing and can cause human induced accidents. Hundred years of experience in transport safety all thrown out of the window for this glorified Disneyland ride.

Interesting video, because I heard a lot of new facts. That 30 second load time was new to me, as the fact that is was basically paid with (toerist) tax payer money.

The on average 3 minutes per ride could indeed allow for the 4400 per hour capacity.
20 rides per hour × 4 passengers x 62 cars = 4960 people per hour. However I would like to know if 4 passengers per car is realistic. Did they load every car to full capacity? Or was it per group that arrived. And the smaller Tesla can hold 5 people including tge driver, but is three grown-ups in the backseat realistic? Because I would except many people in a convention centre to travel alone or with only two people.

The videos I have seen to far seem to show that usually two or three people are being transported. And with three people on average the capacity cannot be reached.

20x3x62 = 3720.

Obviously the capacity is there on paper, but if they don't fill every car to its capacity, in practice it can't deliver.

And I still don't feel this system is truly safe, because what happens when a tesla battery explodes? How can people escape from that particular car, but also how can the other cars stop quickly enough and get back to safely? And how can the fire department get to the burning vehicle on time?

Plus can the doors open in such a narrow tunnel? And how would people know which way to go? I haven't seen any exit signs on any video or photo.

And why are people so impressed by the system and the way the stations look. Apparently they have never been in real public transport stations.

Here in Europe we havs beautiful train, metro and even bus stations. Some very old and looking like a cathedral or even a museum. With art or even underground exhibitions displaying the artifacts found in that particular spot.

And many of the modern stations really are architectural wonders. The loop really looks like a hole in the ground with some flashing led light.

When I visit underground stations in many European cities I often have a true wow feeling. And this loop cleary would be an underwhelming experience. But I feel Americans aren't used to public transport, so even this will impress them.

And in the end this doesn't solve any congestion issues in any city. Only real alternatives to the cR can do that. A bus transit system in combination with cycling infrastructure would be a good solution for Las Vegas. And much cheaper and more effective than a system that can only cary a few thousand people an hour on a very specific spot.

One bus can carry between 40 to even a 100 people. While one metro car can take up to a 1000 people!

Here 62 drivers plus some extra to drive cars to be charged can only carry an average of four. And they need to be paid. Another channel calculated this to cost around 7 million in salaries a year!

While 64 bus drivers could at a minimum transport 10 times more passengers. And in peak moments they could easily double that.

Conclusion for me is that this is probably an ok system for the Las Vegas convention centre. It brings them a lot of free advertisement and it sort of does the job. But is won't be a solution for more city wide transportation. Because than a lot more problems need to be solved. Now this is a closed loop system but as soon as you add one more line, the complexity grows. Now people need to transfer, and trip times per car will increase exponentially.

Only in the USA can such a car centric system be built. Luckily here in the rest of the developed world we have found the true answers on how to move as much people as possible effectively.

Poor Americans, think that al lot of cars with many badly paid drivers are superior over a proper subway.

its a scam, they would have done better with a subway

Seems like a light rail line would have been less expensive, more efficient and have a much higher capacity, but WHOA! A flame thrower? Musk knows how to distract us from the issues!!! 😎

Who allowed this project to be used by the public? Tunnel with one lane, no fire suppression, no escape route, single lane, no ventilation in case of fire which happens with Tesla cars. This is criminal negligence…

This is what happens when you build a cult of personality around a billonaire who needs to be the center of attention. Nobody scrutinizes anything, including the media, and you get a taxpayer funded Tesla showroom.

Wow, what is wrong with you Muh'ricans? build a tram. BTW, this is the only video of what the actual travel experience of the loop in realtime is, kudos Danoby for actually showing the loop instead of a heavily edited opinion.

Lmao what a failed concept. Even if it’ll take off you can’t just build underground tunnels UNDER PRIVATE PROPERTY in the areas. You’re dealing with tons of potential complaints and lawsuits. Also for high speeds anything above 100mph you need very straight tunnels and minimal turns. Also, this is just a glorified taxi ride. Hell you can get a security escort cart for you in an airport. What a joke. Mass transport has been figured out decades ago.
