As we enter 2022, my financial life has become much simpler and should be be very rewarding. My credit card strategy might be different than yours, but cash back is a great option for not only travel, but also the ultimate flexibility. My investing strategy isn’t crazy, not ground breaking. It doesn’t involve crypto, day trading, or options trading. But add it all up together and I believe I have a cohesive plan that puts me one step closer to financial independence.

"another one"
TEAM VTI 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Hey Dustin can you explain the USAA Limitless?
Wise words Dustin
You, sir, are knocking it out of the park. Well done!
"Simple" and "boring" is a good plan
Financial plan 2022: home ownership. That's it
You are crushing it man! I have no doubt you and your wife will hit that FIRE soon!
Don’t you have BofA Preferred Rewards Honors and get 2.65% back on the BofA Unlimited Cash Rewards?
Welcome back.
Working on the Platinum Resy offer for P1 and P2. No need for the cards in general, but couldn’t pass on opportunity for close to 1M MR points. First 600k MR points should be easy for us.
What do you do for a living? You seem to have life figured out. What I mean is, I respect your point of view. You have built a happy life. Congratulations sir.
Same goals for us in 2022 🤙
-max out Roth 401ks, Roth IRAs, keogh
-annual 529 contribution
-remainder of disposable cash put towards the mortgage to finish that off (then will divert all avail cash to nonretirement investments at that point)
Nice and boring plan- lol
Excellent video Dustin. Opened an extra Fidelity account for a $100 bonus not too long ago, and designated it as the investment account for the kid. Wasn't sure how to go about putting money in it, but I like your $100/month idea. Will do that for 2022.
Been enjoying these come-back videos a lot! ❤️
Happy holidays!
Love the transparency with this video, and love how much more you've been able to funnel money into investing accounts. Great video bro!
Thanks for always being transparent, Dustin! I learned about being financially independent and FIRE this year. It was also my first year maxing out my retirement accounts. We got this!
Agree
That's a fantastic financial strategy, Dustin. Best of luck paying off that mortgage in 2022! Its going to be an amazing feeling once you are debt free.
Nothing wrong with being boring. My 401K, IRA, and brokerage is 95% index funds, with a select few individual stocks in the brokerage.
Also look forward to more amazing videos in 2022! Happy New Year to you and your family! ❤👨👩👦👦🎉🎊
I'm also part of Team Boring! Great set of goals for the year – ours are similar and I'm starting to think about redirecting some of our rewards as well to make them work as investments. I have serious FOMO and haven't pulled the trigger yet but I imagine once we have our spring 2022 trip locked down, anything leftover will be cashed out.
Great to see you back and have a happy new year!
I woke up this morning with email saying I’m getting a pay raise!!!
2022 Plan: I get a pay raise in January and another in in July due to my upcoming promotion. I plan to use my pay raise to pay off my personal loan and pay off 90% of my debt. It’s going to be a quiet year, putting all my energy to being debt free.
Life being boring means Life being very stable.
Great video, great strategy.
I wish we had more Americans like you. You are a good family man. Respect.
I’ve been maxing out my 401(k) and trying to max out the mega back door while that is still an option. If that goes away I’ll just push all that to taxable brokerage accounts.
Can you do a HSA video?
That USAA card is bonkers! I guess they don't have it anymore because I don't see it on their site. Oh well. I'm really happy to hear of your plans, and I wish you and your family great health and happiness in 2022 and beyond!
Hey Dustin, for clarity, you no longer use your Bank of America premium rewards 2.62 % cash back? What about your other BoA cards?
Any chance for a video of showing all your credit cards you still have open after closing some cards?
Great strategy and asset allocation! IMO, there is nothing "boring" about outperforming most investors and becoming rich over time. I prefer the global market weight for international (or closer to it), but 20% is reasonable 🙂
Great video! My question is im also starting a C. Schwab account to get some tax haven with a traditional IRA. If i do $50/week is it better to put that in account and then into index as i go weekly or save up and drop quarterly? Just curious your opinion
I’ve watched a few vids here and there but finally decided to subscribe after watching this. 👍
Sounds like you guys are on track. As far as YouTube goes, maybe more content about your day to day decisions on spending. Like what you spend on your mortgage as a percentage of your income, what the value of your vehicles are versus your net worth, etc. Maybe there is more value in your channel as a personal finance vlog than the focus on credit cards. Idk. I am also a budget traveler, agree with your assessment that cash back is the winner for budget travel, but still serial seek bonuses. But that is boring for YouTube. You are competing with "let me show you how to go to Bora Bora after you sign up for one card" YouTubers. Love the channel, look forward to your content.
Any money into bitcoin or ether? I have about 1-2% of my investments in crypto.
Love the strategy man. Nothing boring about it.
After some quick calculations your family and mine look very similar in size, income and travel styles. I’m currently saving as much as possible for a down payment but you’ve inspired me to raise my 401k beyond the match minimum and invest my yearly bonus into our taxable account on top of the yearly max I put into my ROTH and my wife puts into Traditional IRA. Cheers!
💪 – nice work
