I got offered an upgrade from the gold to the platinum with a 100k intro bonus as well a 6 month 5x on restaurants, grocery stores, and gas. I am very tempted to take it as I have a few trips coming up. However, the gold is my heavy user and after the 6 months and my trips I don't see much use for the platinum. Is it safe to upgrade, take the intro bonus, keep it for a year or 2 and then downgrade back to gold? Or will that put me on the amex list?
Nice!
Still disappointed with AMEX since the Centurion lounge at LAX is still closed (Been close to a year now of being closed down). Also before you didn’t have to have a delta flight to use the lounge, Amex/PP changed this rule over the last year and half. Overall as a platinum cardholder in LA area this has been a huge loss of value to the card. Hopefully the retention offer will be worth it for me to keep the card but it’s been frustrating to say the least.
I’m sorry but the Amex Lounges are overcrowded, noisy, and hard to find a seat once you get in. I been in United Clubs in which it wasn’t crowded and most of the times quiet.
Great video!
Team Delta Reserve for similar Airport Lounge access, plus a simple companion pass to offset the AF.
Don't know if you saw this, Seb: platinum card holders can now access Virgin Atlantic Clubhouses in JFK, Newark, San Francisco, DC (IAD), and Johannesburg. One more notch in the card that's the king of airport lounges.
What lounges are in Orlando MCO?
Great video Sebby! Thumbs up! I do have a question though about Capital One Travel portal. Was wondering if the portal will be like the LHR from chase and FHR from AMEX. TIA!
New Escape lounge (centurion studio) coming to FLL according to Gary Leff.
What’s the best lounge in logan boston ?
Hey Sebby, I’m looking to choose between the Amex plat, venture x, or chase sapphire reserve (upper tier travel cards). Do you have an opinion on which one? Could you make a video comparing them? Thanks, love you videos!
Do you have a calculator for the Amex biz platinum? If not, I think it would be great to make one!
Yes, thank you for sharing.
Good luck being a delta flyer, no miles for you now when you fly basic economy
I’m shocked there’s not one in Atlanta. It’s the the busiest airport in the U.S.
Escape lounges are closed for the foreseeable future 🙁
Funny they suggest this video as I just got this card yesterday
Platinum sucks now. I cancelled in December. My wife tried using the lounge in LAX recently and it was closed for some sort of remodeling. Seattle one is too packed. New credits are bad. Glad I cancelled.
695 is not worth it. A rip off
What credit score is needed for Amex Platinum
I recently took a trip with a friend. He is kind of on a budget. So he pressured me into buying the cheaper American Airlines ticket instead of the slightly more expensive Delta ticket. Despite the fact that I have delta lounge access because Of my platinum card. We get to the airport and the FIRST THING HE DOES is buy an OVERPRICED meal at an airport restaurant. Then, on the flight back, he bought breakfast and coffee at the airport too. I’m like DUDE! All that money you spent is more than it would have cost to just book through Delta and get lounge access! I was pissed.
I flown United easily over 100 times, however I've only flown Delta maybe four times. I'm wondering is it because they don't have a lot of international flights? I do have the Platinum card and I had no idea that this includes lounge benefits. United has awful / not existent lounges.
I didn't know you can go the delta sky club after you land. Thanks.
LAX centurion is still closed. Make sure you fly delta if you want to check out lax lounge.
I fly dozens of times per year and I hate paying that huge AF but I find the Schwab Platinum to be totally worth the cost for someone like myself.
You really go to Vegas just to eat? You have way superior food in you SF hometown. IMO Vegas isn't a food destination other than maybe those extravagant buffets.
Something to remember also, if you have a card like the chase reserve that gives priority pass but not delta or centurion, many airports won't let you into a terminal that you're not flying out of. So if you're flying Delta but there is a priority pass lounge in a different terminal, there's a good chance you won't be able to access it.
I was considering upgrading my chase preferred to a reserve, but Detroit is my home airport and it's a delta hub. I mostly fly delta and when I found out about the terminal rules, I don't think I'll upgrade now.
Great video!!! I was in Frankfurt flying biz class, I was told I can only go to Biz lounge not Senator, only with status can enter Senator lounge
With the amex plat, are you allowed to bring guest(s) into delta skylounges for free?
Thanks for the informative video. Question: does adding the platinum card to the delta app works for going into the Delta lounge as you mentioned? We got declined before as the rep said only physical card is allowed.
Minneapolis has great food in the Delta lounge
Great video, I think the plaza premium “pause” page showed an Orlando lounge but there isn’t one anymore.
If you’re military, you can get this card for 0$ annual fee
Great recent video. Seeing how travel is starting to ramp up, I was wondering if and when you'll look to do a video on the best travel cards to apply for? This could be comparing different creditors, and or the same within their umbrella of cards; for example, a likely comparison of the Chase Sapphire Preferred vs World of Hyatt Credit Card vs Chase Sapphire Reserve vs Venture X. I am curious to know which is a better current and long term card to have based on your expertise?
I know you mainly fly out of SFO but OAK has a lounge for you and 2 guests that you can use with your Plat card. They have some free selections of beer and wine (some are extra cost). They also have snacks like cookies and a small selection of hot food.
Something to take into account with COVID. A lot of the Amex Platinum accessible lounges and food outlets (including through Priority Pass) are actually still temporarily closed.
Like the ones in Sydney, and in Bangkok. I was so disappointed in December and January that I had no where to go get refreshments before my flight, as even the regular airport food courts were closed.
Does the Delta AMEX Platinum get me into these lounges?
Nice review. Detroit now has 5 Sky Clubs.
I was under the impression that you couldn't visit lounges after arrival? If you can, which ones can you, for example, delta lounges or amex lounges?
Love your videos
Top tip…if no Centurion I'd suggest a Plaza Premium exactly because they don't accept PP so are alway quieter than a PP lounge.
In Europe and Asia Plaza lounges are top quality.
