What cards do you consider to be underrated? Also, what do you think about my list? 🤓
If you don't have a bank account with US Bank and can do direct deposit, you can earn $400 bonus for opening a checking and savings accounts. They will more likely approve your credit application if you have a bank account with them.
If you want more info about the bank bonus, check out doctorofcredit's site: https://www.doctorofcredit.com/best-bank-account-bonuses/#US_Bank_200_Checking_Bonus
For bank of america customers with $100k assets in various IRAs or 529k accounts, the cash rewards card is amazing… 5.25% cash back on a choice of category from dining, travel, online shopping, gas, drug stores… also the premium rewards card, 3.5% cash back on dining and travel, 2.625% cash back everywhere else, no foreign transaction fees, travel protections…
Other two most underrated cards imho are: Hilton Surpass and the Rakuten VISA
Hilton Surpass: for just $95 annual fee, you get hilton gold status (which gives free breakfast and upgrades), 30x points on hilton stays, 6x points on dining, groceries, and gas, 3x points everywhere else… valuing points at 0.6 cents, thats equivalent to 18% back on hilton, 3.6% on groceries, gas, and dining… Priority pass with 10 free visits per year, a free weekend night each year at any property after $15k spend…
Rakuten VISA 3x amex points on any purchase online or in store where you add a rakuten bonus for more points
I second the US Bank Altitude Reserve, I’m shocked no one really talks about it. I feel like it fills in the gap where Chase cards fall behind (Gas, Costco, Groceries, and everyday purchases) due to the power of mobile wallet.
The Khardashian Kard- a true collector's item at this point!
Chase is so overrated, you have to wait so much longer than Capital One to get rewards.
What you think about the chase sapphire preferred?
Merry New Year!
As an expat living in China I can only use venture or chase since AMEX isn’t taken at most places
If you have $100k+ in retirement assets that you can transfer to Merrill, the Bank of America Cash Rewards is super underrated. 5.25% cash back on your category choice (for me, restaurants), 3.5% cash back on warehouse clubs and grocery with no annual fee. $200 signup bonus after spending $1000 in the first three months.
Runner-up for underrated given the same $100k+ in retirement assets: Bank of America Premium Rewards. $95 annual fee, but comes with $100 in airline incidental credit, which is pretty easy to use to offset that fee, and then gets you 2.62% cash back on everything, and 3.5% cash back on travel and dining. $500 signup bonus after spending $3000 in the first three months.
Good recommendations. Thank you
US bank altitude reserve
I have most the cards in this video. I think the citi double cash is a little overrated since citi took away most of the the benefits. I highly recommend either the sdfcu cash+ or penfed power cash. Both cards have no foreign transaction fees, no minimum redemption, and chip and pin capabilities, and no annual fee and give a flat 2 percent cash back. These are great extra cards to have if you live abroad or need an extra travel card with chip and pin.
can you apply for 1 credit card and 1 charge card through AMEX on the same day? Or will amex reject the application? Also do you know if they pull a soft or hard inquiry if you already have a card with them and account?
Hey Ernest, any chance for a updated “what’s in my wallet” video for 2020. Would love an update for Fiona as well!
Also what are both your credit card plans for 2020??
We use Amex in Sri Lanka as well. Can you do a video on Amex again?
I'm with you on the Chase Business Ink Cash, great card . . . another sleeper card is the Chase AARP Rewards card
Why everybody that shows how to get credit cards never explain, the credit score requirement
My experience with AMEX is that many smaller vendors do not accept it. I stopped using it when i was in scotland and france in 2019
Wells Fargo Propel. Penfed Power Cash Rewards.
5:12 Also, the Citi Double-Cash recently (Sept 2019) got rid of many of their benefits. No more; car rental insurance, trip cancellation/interruption/delay protection, travel accident insurance, lost baggage protection, price rewind, 90 return protection, roadside assistance dispatch, travel & emergency assistance. Basically it's now just a bare-bones 2% cash back card. Would NOT recommend for travel use.
Trip thats a lot of cards
