If only it wasn’t PayPal, they suck to deal with.

So I'm a Paypal cardholder…why am I hearing this from your video BEFORE hearing it from the company directly 0.o;

Also I know this is exciting, but this actually completely messes up my play. All my monthly bills (Power, Electric, Water, etc) are all on this card and none charge through paypal. I'd much rather use this for 3% on paypal purchases, so sounds like I might need to setup a new 2% credit card for my monthly bills…
(Yes I know I will still get 2%, but I like to keep my bills card isolated so I don't have to make a bunch of changes if my CC info gets leaked)

I think it is incredibly important to stress that this is a Synchrony Bank issued card, which is a HUGE negative when comparing cards. Their infrastructure, reliability, and customer service are infamously terrible. Always consider who is actually issuing the card, not just what the pretty logo on the front is.

Walmart doesn't accept Paypal. The Walmart credit card is 5% for the first year only. 😔

Considering I spend most of my money through PayPal and often because I commission a lot of freelance artists, this is a huge boon to my life.

I think I have a 5% off paypal discount on rotating category cards about 25-50% of the year. A 3% all the time, on anything card would be like gold for all those little things that don't have a special 5% card.

If they add a no Foreign Transaction Fee then it is a clear winner. Apple card edges most cashback cards with that no foreign transaction fee.

Great %, but I recently got burnt by PayPal. Used them for years, but could not get a refund for a purchase I returned and they sided with seller even through I had all documentation. It was a big purchase also. Very poor experience…

Very interesting move by PayPal. Although I don’t use PayPal at all, it is still an intriguing card. Thanks for the review, Ben!

Walmart offers 5% in store for the first year. After that it’s 2%. PayPal is better for in store at Walmart.

Katrina April 7, 2022 - 12:31 am

Not many people can get 5% cash back at Amazon with their card. That’s why I’m looking at 3% back with the BOA CCR credit card. PayPal and BOA tied for the 3% but PayPal easier to get.

Might as well get to AOD credit union cashback card 3% everything & NO Foreign fees and unlimited 3% with no limit

Reply
David Pretto April 7, 2022 - 10:56 pm

4-5% should be the new standard for store or “brand specific” cards like Amazon does currently. Apple and PayPal should take note. Is it really worth it for consumers to get a new line of credit for a measly 1% more than you could get with 2% back card? Especially if there’s no transfer partners or bonuses for outsized value.

Cannot compete with the BofA cash card. That one is like 3% on all online shopping including PayPal.

Reply
NutNbutSpeed April 8, 2022 - 11:44 pm

This would have been great as am looking for a 2%+ cash back card that has no ForEx fees and TSA Pre-Check but again nothing. Not to mention you can only get the 3% cash back via PayPal so that sucks. Guess I'll keep waiting for the right one to come along.

I love the capital one travel card personally! Solid video! Now they gotta learn how to grow that money in the stock market. I teach it all on my channel: consistently invest in to solid index funds/ ETFs with low fees. Super simple and I teach you which ones made me over $50,000 last year. 🙌
