I would be all over that 80K Preferred offer, but I got that SUB almost exactly 3 years ago and downgraded the preferred to Freedom Flex. Hopefully there will be nice Subs for one of the Sapphire cards next year at this time
Keeping my CSP for now – with my current situation the CSR doesn't make sense but I want to keep UR transfer partner access between points earned with CSP and FU.
I’m going to hold out on getting this card until they increase the welcome bonus again. I’m not under 5/24 until August which is when I planned on getting the Sapphire which would have been my third Chase card but I don’t really need a new card for any other reason besides wanting the welcome bonus. I’ll just keeping using my AMEX quadfecta and my other cards when called for but damn I’m salty I’m missing out on this 80k.
One thing that you didn't mention is if you travel abroad a lot visa is much more accepted than amex. I live abroad and basically can't use amex outside of a few hotels in the country I live, but visa is taken everywhere.
I have the preferred and just don’t see the benefits of the reserve to upgrade
my sister just got approved for the card today
I used all my 100,000 sign up bonus. I’m using the IHG Premier for 5x on Travel now
Sapphire preferred is only good redeeming, not earning. Only reason I want chase is to have southwest as a travel partner. If southwest became a capital one transfer partner that would be a dream come true
Commented on another video of yours but thought it was appropriate here. Was approved for this card about three weeks ago with just under a 14K credit limit. Applied in branch with my business banker so thankfully, got the first year’s annual fee waived.
So now I am running a three card set up of the Freedom Unlimited, Sapphire Preferred and the ink Business Unlimited. My plan is to do exactly what you mentioned and upgrade to the Reserve in a year to have lounge access since I travel so much for my work as a photographer/Director. And people should definitely not discount the primary rental coverage. I rent a lot of vehicles for my productions on my Ink business unlimited and I have saved hundreds and hundreds of dollars on declining the additional insurance on a free card! I’m so glad to finally have it on the Sapphire preferred if we ever have to rent a vehicle for personal use.
Great video. I've been following you for a few years now. Keep up the great work.
I feel like you are giving the Reserve short shrift prematurely (I think you said somthing like you don't see the point of it with the comparable point earning of the Preferred). I was running an Amex cash back setup. The Reserve boosts its 3x to 4.5 when redeemed for paying yourself back. This beats the Amex cash back setup everywhere but travel after the Sept.21 schwab redemption value change. It also has much easier offset perks to use if you live more than 75 miles from an ocean in the United States.
A few caviats:
1. the reserve is looking a little long in the tooth and might get a refresh to update its earning ability at some point.
2. You could add the Amex cash back preferred for 6% grocery catiigory to a chase trifecta or duo setup for an annual fee that is still cheaper than the Amex setup.
Chase is better for "cash back" (pay yourself back isn't technically cash back but it's good enough) than amex as of 2022. Change my mind?
For me, yep! I've had it instead of the CSR for a few years now and am totally happy with it 💯
I'm probably going to kick myself for not getting it during the 80k bonus, but I'm in a Gardening phase right now and don't anticipate any big spending at the moment. I might wait till around Black Friday time when I know I'm going to spend money and hopefully they'll have a good promotion going on.
Good video, but I feel the card has a better benefit compared to the Amex gold, because, Amex gold is $250 AF for 4 points on dining and groceries, but CSP gives to you 3 points which taken to the portal for travel becomes into 3,75 points, so the difference is just 0,25 compared to Amex gold, and furthermore, if for any reason you need cash back, 4 Amex points will worth only 2.6 effective points, but the CSP will be 3 points which is better so, not so luxurious card but easier ecosystem for points redemption and barely $95 AF 👍
Yes Amex gets 4x but you have to pay $250 and unless you value the points at 100% face value (which you shouldn’t) and you can use all of the credits then CSP has the better return on spend and a superior floor cpp value at 1cpp for cash vs 0.6 for Amex. Plus most people are only able to get 1.5cpp when transferring out of Amex vs over 2 cpp for Chase
It was for me.
So overall the Amex gold is a better card?
I just downgraded from the csr to the csp. After the $300 travel credit is used, the card is basically useless
I think not. No groceries (unless online), no gas, no hotel ( unless thru portal)
After the first year it just didn’t make sense. I upgraded to the CSR after year 1. It has to b combined with other cards to b valuable at earning points.
Not worth it in 2022 , you can get all the multipliers with No AF cards!
Great video! Sadly, I'm in 5/24 jail :((((
I really hope they add some lounge access to the new chase lounges when they open up.
Which card would you get first, the flex or the unlimited? I have the perfected and about to hit my spend so I’m looking at which is next.
Just transferred my chase points to Hyatt and booked 3night at Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana, Dominican Republic for 25k/night regular rates $700/night
This video is jam packed with information. I have the Chase Sapphire Preferred and am in the accumulating phase of points with my Chase trifecta. It's been a great card for me so far. Thanks for a great video!
3:44 the information about the Freedom card is incorrect. It doesn't offer 3x on dining
Ben PLEASE do an update video for UK cards, points, bonuses etc
I know you are trying to pivot your channel. Why don't you explain business issues and companies? You speak and read Chinese. Maybe a video about Foxconn and Hong Kong, etc.
Do this same video for the Amex gold! 🙂
youre so hot and full of great info!! thank youu
Actually dining is worth 3.75 points per dollar with Sapphire Preferred, but I'm sure you know that already. Also I've learned Preferred is more flexible. Amex Gold and Green only earns 1 point per dollar at bars where as chase cards will classified "bars" as food/dining which will give you the full points in that category..
Seems like I only use this card when I need to redeem my points or transfer points. That's the only use for this card, there are other cards that has better earning multiples.
I think it’s a good card; I have it currently. However, I was considering downgrading it to one of the freedoms to take advantage of signup bonus; I have had the card for more than 48 months. But with the recent change in policy, I’m wondering if I should just hold on to it/upgrade to the reserve?
I use my CSP to transfer points to my wife’s Southwest account because she has Companion Pass. Talk about high redemption value 🤩
Applied on the 31st in branch to get the annual fee waived for the first year. Got approved for $5,900 CL with a 707 and $31k income, couldn’t be more excited to have it!
Citi premier is a better option. 99% of people who have the CSP, who know anything about credit cards only use the card for transfer partners lol. It’s crazy how people are
Vehemently and viscerally tied to chase. Hyatt is a great transfer partner but other than that it’s meh. Bilt maybe something to look into.
I think it would be interesting if they took away the Freedom and Freedom Flex having the grocery store as a rotating category and they gave the CSP 4x on grocery. Makes it a direct competitor to Amex Gold
I used to see stock trading as a side thing but it has proven to be a major source of passive income ever since I ventured into it by investing with Natalia Watson.
for me I like Amex benefit better than chase I am grocery purchased most of the time
