Breaking news: TYP can be transferred to AA miles for a limited time!
Citi adding AA as a travel partner makes this card a bit more interesting for me. However, Amex & Delta were beating down my door about the SkyMiles Gold (got approved last week for the 70k bonus), with the rumored changes to the CSP next month, and the fact that I'm now up to six cards this year (two Citi AA cards among them), I'm in danger of being spread too thin. A seventh points currency is one too many. Sitting this one out.
Booking a roundtrip business class with airfrance and it's either $2560 or 116k points + $580. Should I just pay for it and leave the points for a more expensive flight or is it worth it to use the points?
Hey Sebby, does Citi allow using plastiq to count towards the minimum spend?
I like how it's a mastercard so you can use it with plastiq to pay your mortgage and more easily hit the minimum spend and essentially get a discount on your mortgage.
Hi Sebby – this isn’t related to this card but if we’re to close out a card I opened in the past 12 months would that no longer count for chase’s 5/24 rule and help me get approved for the preferred?
hey Sebby, can i downgrade the Citi Premier to the Costco visa without my own individual costco membership? i am added on a family members costco membership and do have my own card on his membership.
Quick questions , is this intrest free on purchases during the introduction period .
Blow your load of points… I mean if you’re into that
Could you do a redemption example of something domestic?
I got this back in 2019 with 60k bonus.. Combined this with other bonuses did a cool free round trip to Asia. Singapore business class one way included. 😎
So of you're flying from any other city other than ny, you have to pay for w flight to NY. Then ny to Belgium is free. And then you have to pay for another flight to go anywhere else in Europe?! And you have to match these up perfectly so you're not stuck at the airport all day. Pretty confusing. Can you use these points to get more than 2x value on any flights or they have to be specific?
This card is tough to get for frequent credit card users or churners. There are a lot of data points of denied applications because of
– low credit utilization
– unused revolving credit
– 1/6
It's like Citi doesn't want more customers
Great review! I had this card for 4 years. I called for a retention offer. None were offered. Prob because I haven’t been using that much recently. I downgraded to Rewards+ since I already have DC.
When could I reapply for the Premier?
Hey quick question if you got the citi custom cash does that lock you out of the sign up bonus since they're thank you points or does it not count as the same?
Be careful downgrading the Premier card to non TYP earning cards. If you do, any points earned through that card will expire in 60 days. This is true even if you've combined your TYP accounts with other cards. The DC does NOT count as a TYP earning card even though you can transfer cash rewards to TYP after earning. If you have a bunch of points on your Premier card when you downgrade, I would recommend downgrading to the Rewards+ or CustomCash so you can keep and redeem those points as cash back or some other way.
I talked to Citi about this card after reviewing the terms. I noticed that the only purchase protection was the standard fraud protection, and extended warranty was missing from documentation. The representative at Citi confirmed that there is no extended warranty nor damage and theft protection. I'm letting you know since none of the usual websites have updated this information. Even web pages that have been updated recently still mention these now removed benefits as current.
I used your link and I was approved. Thank you for all your insight. I am getting better. Relatively short credit history and reported score of 746. Thanks again!
I have a Double Cash already, if i downgrade this card can I get two Double Cash cards like they allow at Chase for the Freedom cards?
I"M BUILT DIFFERENT!!!!
Thanks for the good information. Just picked it up using your link. I'll let you know how it goes!
Can u upgrade to this from a double cash card?
Is the downgrade path for this citi premier to the citi double cash a 2 year minimum? Not the typical 1 year as is with chase, and the csp to CFU for example?
I'm curious, why are saying "avoid transferring TY points to EVA"? EVA is one of my favorite business class airlines from SFO to Thailand. What's complicated about EVA? Am I missing something?
Hey Sebby! I have a question for you…. I’m planning a trip that will cover the $4K min spend with the fees to a resort. It’s about $4500 total for the resort. If I were to pay $4K with this Citi card to get the intro bonus, then $500 with my CSR, would the CSR’s insurances “cover” that resort?? Thank you sir!
TYP is a great add-on after I opened most of the UR and MR cards. Premier + DC have no less power than CFF + CFU + CSP. I opened Premier this month and will have one more 5/24 slot for 2nd CSP next year after 48 months since 1st CSP.
Does the 3x for hotels include Airbnb?
Does restaurants count as as deliver and take out? Or only eating in?
got 80k point transfer to airlines partner and flow on business class , round trip to paris from usa , value $8K
Can a husband and wife get separate individual cards and we both each get our bonus points living in the same household???? Thanks!
