This move by Citi definitely seems provoked by Wells Fargo‘s drop of their new autograph card. With that card being such a powerful 3X card, and in combination with Wells Fargo active cash, Citi’s cards were looking less competitive. Because to be honest, without a welcome bonus on the Double cash it doesn’t make much sense to go with it over the Wells Fargo active cash. So this move makes this card relevant with the active cash as a 2% card again. I still prefer my Chase freedom unlimited, but that’s just me! Love to see the updates on the admirals clubs. I’ve never had the pleasure of using them or any lounge for that matter, but I’m excited to do so!

Yay!! DCA is one of my two home airports and I have Admiral Club access through my beautiful Citi AAdvantage Executive World Elite MC. Actually, the Admiral Clubs at Miami Airport are really nice (both). DCA will have two Admiral Clubs, the new one you mentioned that opens this Fall and the old one which is not to appealing. DCA is also getting a Centurion Lounge. Things are getting great for my two home airports. IAD will be opening the Capital One Lounge soon and I also will have access to it with my Venture X card. Looking forward of getting drunk there soon, cheers 🍻!!

I did recently upgrade my Citi Aadvantage Platinum card to the Executive card since I will be going on a lot of business trips through airports that do not have a Capital One or American Express Lounge which I did review in a video of mine. I am excited about the redesigned American Airlines lounges since I will be able to bring a guest to those lounges.

This video has me thinking it’s a great time to begin building a Citi trifecta to add to my Chase portfolio (I also have Discover and no-AF Amexes but I never use). Previously I had thought Amex was my only other trifecta option and I’m not interested in paying the high AF’s for Amex because I don’t fly enough to get the value back. Can't say that AA hasn't previously stepped up their game. The Flagship lounges are fantastic and at least comparable to Polaris lounges. If only they were all reopened…

I have no luck with the hotel credit from the Amex Platinum card. Everytime I am booking a trip there are either no hotels available or they are ridiculously priced. This is the only credit I can't take advantage of. Any tricks?
