Just like the brilliant, if they increase the AF to $650 this card won't make sense for a lot of people. I typically stay in more expensive rooms because they're free with certificates and points. But I'm not a person who readily spends in the $300 range when booking hotels with cash. It's just a waste to me. So I'd be spending money that I wouldn't normally spend just to get a "free" night.
Disagree that the club certs aren’t valuable. They are one of the reasons we love the card and get great value from them. Yes you need to pay the cash rate but the upgrades are awesome
🥂i have this card. Was annoyed by the change in $300 credit (used to be any travel expense) and devaluation of bonvoy points but 85k might make it worthwhile. In general very annoyed with Chase

I have Marriot business chase and boundless chase. If I PC from boundless to ritz. Am I now open for amex Marriott cards?
Can anyone confirm that authorized users also get a separate Global Entry/TSA Precheck credit? All of my authorized users share the same credit card number, but do 4 authorized users mean 4 credits? I am sure they follow the same policy as the Sapphire Reserve, so that may be a way of getting more data points.

Had the Ritz card back in January 2017 and product changed it to a bonvoy bold back in June 2020. When I try to sign up for the Bonvoy Brilliant it says I am inelgible for the bonus which seems to be an error. Have you heard of card users being inelgible when they meet the requirements?
Would just need the status on the ritz card to be better and it'd be perfect

I applied for the Marriott Boundless above 5/24 and I was approved and received the sign up bonus. My original plan was to product change to the Ritz Carlton card. I hope it’s still possible by my 12 month mark!

So is Brilliant $200 better than this card? You basically pay $200 for Platinum status, and get a coupon book you need to use every month.
Just as a data point for the bit about asking for a credit limit increase instead of applying for a new line if you’re over 5/24, I requested a cli on one of my Chase cards a few months back and was instantly denied. After speaking with a rep they informed me that 5/24 now (or at least then) applies to cli as well as new applications.
I plan on product changing to the Ritz Carlton card, but am really hoping they raise the status to Platinum to compete with the Bonvoy Brilliant
This card is so "rare" that when I the Front Desk lady asked for a payment card at check in she thought I worked for ritz carlton haha This was at a JW Marriott.

On a serious note, I’ve always wanted this card but was too lazy/scared to apply when they had it available. Don’t know if I would burn a 5/24 slot with the intention of upgrading in 1 year. I think it’s too much wishful thinking that Chase won’t increase the AF before I could put the plan into action.
But i need to know. Will the card be METAL?!

I got this card when they still had the 50k cert and I still thought it was good value. 85k is now a no brainer. I found out you get the 35k one from the Boundless first and at the end of your first year you get the 85k which makes sense.
I slightly disagree with the valuation of the 85 cert. I’d say closer to 800 or 1k if you use it at the Ritz in half moon bay which is absolutely amazing
Out of the 5 Marriott cards I have 2 are Ritz-C, I never understand why more people didn't have this card. I will try to get another one in the future as it's my go-to for seat upgrades using it's $300 travel credit. Whaaaat $650 for the Ritz, no bro, I am not going to be able to rationalize that, I will be downgrading my Brilliance unless I get a break on the af.
🥂 Great vid as always. For me I’d rather just have the Bonvoy Brilliant than this (or both). I feel like having two Brilliant cards (for the certificates) is easier to justify given the dining vs airline credit.
