Welcome to MtM #Vegas – Our weekly look at the cool #news and happenings in Sin City.
It’s been a crazy week in Vegas as crowds slow down and Captain Obvious comes to town. On this week’s show we’ll discuss the interesting ad campaigns of two of Vegas’ newest casinos plus talk about a credit card offer that gives great value for Vegas travel and talk about how much money Resorts World made at opening.
In other news we discuss the juicy rumor that a sale of Cosmo may may be happening soon. Who could be the buyer? Plus how you can win $10K by dressing up as Vegas Vickie, why you need to watch a new HBO show about Pahrump and the #Wynn Status match has finally died, but what does it mean for people who already matched? Oh yeah and Mark Davis is building an insane Raiders themed house in Vegas.

We will not return to vegas until the mask requirements are removed!
Just did an in depth video tour of Resorts World yesterday…they have a big challenge on their hands…place was pretty empty on a Thursday
Did you guys coordinate the paint color in your podcast studios?
Hey guys. This video sucked. I kept falling asleep. Please do better Mark. 👍👍
I forgot to ask. Shawn. I’m in March too. March what?
Hey Mark. I saw how excited you got over that big black. ….. house LMAO.
I really enjoy the content guys! Also loving the podcast. Keep up the great work
I was supposed to be there from 8-31 to 9-3, but cancelled. My stay was comp'd but just not worth it with the mask mandate and TSA mask extension through about January '22. Frequent visitor and not happy with the overall nickel-and-diming direction of the town, as well as the sharp decline in hotel service. With casinos in almost every state now and the younger generation struggling financially, I think Vegas's best days could be behind it. I think the summer spike was just all unemployment and stimulus money and people wanting to go anywhere they could for a vacation. Not surprisingly, it's a ghost town now and probably will be for quite awhile.
We stay at casino's all the time. Like you said dirty in the middle of the room not ok, in the corners eh. We arnt complainers too but come on, give it a quick once over with the vacuum or atleast get the most touched stuff. Understand able if they cut corners like the windows. Well unemployment is drying up so it will be back to normal in a few months
I was in Vegas two weeks ago and it was packed! Will be back in two more weeks and we will see how crowded it is at the end of September. One note, I've never seen so many homeless people just laying around outside the casinos throughout the day and nobody doing anything to get them the help they need. It's sad and brings the Vegas vibe down.
Just so everyone knows, Virgin Mohegan Sun is a much more playable CASINO than Resorts World ever will be. Resorts World is a REPLICA Casino. We are talking 30 fake 6/5 blackjack tables at Resorts World, VS, 30 Authentic 3/2 tables and Free Parking at Virgin. Don't be a victim of the 3-Night-Gotcha on the Strip full of fees and fake blackjack.
September 18th right around the corner #Boom
I didn’t even know VEGAS HAS an “Arts District”!
Hi there do they do companion cards for your spouse?
Hi guys,
Enjoy your information you provide…
So no masks outside and masks inside???
Do you have to wear a mask at the bars?
Thanx
Bummed I get to Vegas the day after the meet up. 🙁
Man, Resorts World… I teased that it was Virgin 2.0 opening but now my mind has changed. I can’t overlook the large amounts of open space it still has. It reminded me of an underdeveloped shopping mall. I found myself saying “this is it?” I acknowledge the nightclub and theater are still to open and all that but like Mark said, I don’t find myself going there.
Great tip on the UNLV football team and Allegiant. My wife went to UH so I’m definitely going to that rival game. Last note- SEE YOU ON THE 18th! I’ve been going to 1st Fridays lately and walked by the place you’re hosting. Looks really cool.
My money is on MGM getting Cosmo (probably with someone like Vicci). In the last quarter results Bill H was asked are they currently in negotiations for any strip properties and he said he can't answer that at the moment. (So yes!)
Connect the back of Cosmo to Aria, Bellagio and the monorail and boom you will have a massive increase in footfall over night….
Interesting location for the meet up. I actually think I’ve been there before -not my favorite area of town but will be excited to see you guys. That Vegas Vicky bar is so awesome. Great view of Vicky.
I would not give Chase bank a penny…a brutal and corrupt bank!
Hi Shawn and Mark! Thank you for this video. And, I must tell you Shawn that I had a reservation for the Aria this month, and after watching your video and clips of the property, I cancelled it. I was so very THANKFUL that you were honest and had video to back it up. I greatly appreciate you for it. Stay safe and healthy out there you two! CAB 😊
Resort world definitely was underwhelming. How do they not provide different player cards for each level 🙄 no special areas or perks for high rollers. A total pass if you play high stakes.
10:00 "The gaming (CASINO) industry has embraced REITs, which, by law, DON'T PAY FEDERAL INCOME TAXES. With real estate as their primary source of income, REITs are required to distribute at least 90 percent of their taxable earnings to shareholders."
Hows Chase rewards?
Hopefully they don't sell COSMO, It's such a fun property would hate to see anything change that.
I don't think Vegas can handle another sports team. The Raiders is turning out to be so expensive I don't people able to support teams year round. There's only so much money to spend.
If MGM was involved, Blackstone would prb keep ownership of the land, and lease it out to MGM and let them run the casino. Why would MGM buy this land having just sold all this other land.
I hope MGM doesn’t buy Cosmo, they would ruin the identity rewards program.
Potato cam 😀
NOTHING is gonna get done between Oakland and hte A's. They are GONE. Unless Vegas screws it up or just doesn't want them – they'll be there within 2 years, before they even have their own stadium. MARK IT!
Virgin = CCP
Fellas. Just got back from vegas 40th bday. Wanted to let you know the service levels at Crockfords is on another level. As a wynncore junkie for years. Especially Labor Day weekend. My birthday. Two bad things. 1. Shared soaps in showers. Not the boutique small bottles I like 2. We were on the 66th floor the top of the building. The elevators are fast rising. Like big shot fast. So fast and long pressure in your ears change. Both me and my wife experienced a pressure change then there is a lounge also on the 66th floor and they too felt how fast they were. The service and welcoming to me is another level especially for vegas.
It’s the R’s your not going to get finesse and culture..
I’m definitely not going to Vegas when it’s NFL season and there home…
There fans are just so…..grrrrrr shall say.
Vegas I’m sure has a love hate relationships with them…
That house of his is as hideous as the team….
Great video….even though it feature the R’s..
No I’m not a fan….I’m there rivals fan…🧡💙👍🇬🇧
Mark is wrong… Not having parking is smart urban planning. Keeps restaurants and nearby venues full before and after the game. With parking people drive in and drive out.
Does Nevada release gambling revenue for individual casinos like Atlantic City?
Hey Shawn. Hope you didn’t take my last comment as arguing. You are 100% correct that the Aria needs some updates. If the Bellagio and Aria were in Boston, I’d choose the Bellagio. Since they are in Las Vegas, I have to consider gaming and food options. That’s why I choose Aria when I go out now. Just booked my next trip for October. Hoping to get a Sky Suite this time. Keep up the good reports!
I have lived in Vegas for over 10 years now and unfortunately VEGAS has become a "bottom basement" area other than the real-estate!!!
Resorts World was hyped up so much that it ended up dissapointing. The food has not gotten good reviews and the rest just doesn't impress.
NW, can't stay there, ever, it cost way to much. Chase card, I don't spend 4000.00 in a year and a half let alone 4 months!😳 I stay in Vages were I can find a room for under $50. a night !
Great updates & news Shawn. Huge thanks.
The Virgin marketing campaign was a huge turn off… nothing to do with gaming, or even the property itself & their social media is a joke.
I have not been to RW yet, but from what I have seen it just seems to be very underwhelming and the vibe just isn't there. But the food I hear is worth a visit.
