Welcome to MtM #Vegas – Our weekly look at the cool news and happenings in Sin City.
#Virgin Hotels Las Vegas opened this past week with a lot of buzz and a lot of people leaving disappointed. Our friend Rick from Travel on Points was there on opening day. He didn’t just attend the grand opening but stayed in the hotel as well. Check out his written review at:
In this MtM Vegas episode, we give a fully detailed #VirginHotels Las Vegas review including what to expect at the property. We also discuss the opening day experience both in the hotel and casino including how they dropped the ball in many ways and what they got right. From not having hotel rooms ready to no pool, it is clear the place wasn’t ready for prime time.
Rick will also talk about his overall impressions of the décor including which places got it right and which didn’t. With so many operators at Virgin it does sort of feel all over the place, but there were some highlights. Mostly though it seems this launch was messed up in many ways leaving guests unhappy and many wondering how this could have happened.

Wow that's there suite room. Looks horrible, especially being a hilton diamond member. I would be very unhappy and probably move to another property.
GRAND OPENING!!GRAND CLOSING!!SOLD AGAIN BY NEXT SUMMER!!THAT PROPERTY HAD A HARD TIME WHEN IT WAS HARDROCK!!MUST BE ON STRIP TO SUCCEED!!NO QUESTION THOSE OFF STRIP PROPERTIES NEVER MAKE IT!
This is par for the course for Virgin. Look up the cabins on their cruise ships. They're exactly the same as your hotel room, minimalist.
So, was it a SNAFU, or was it a FUBAR?
STEVEN From 'NOT Leaving Las Vegas" Got kicked out by an Overzealous security guard!…I WON'T be Gambling or going to that Crappy Hotel Casino!
Well- thanks for the report…..I agree that it doesn't sound very well planned out- pandemic or not. I mean, it's nice weather, how can you open a 'hotel' that advertises a great pool and park area, but it's not even finished yet? Here's another article to read- not sure if it sheds light on their thinking, but it is what it is. At least Boz (the JC Hospitality group) said they planned to re-employ many of the former workers of the former Hard Rock..here's a link to the article I found online : https://www.cdcgamingreports.com/virgin-hotels-las-vegas-opening-one-more-positive-sign-for-the-markets-recovery/
We loved HRH and are fans of Virgin so we will give it a go, plus we’re from the UK 🇬🇧 the home of Virgin Atlantic!
Yeah I watched it live. I've been to other hotel/casino openings before and that was the saddest opening I've ever seen. Definitely not like a typical Richard Branson celebration. <–And I've been to those too.
This whole stream was just dripping with hateration. Maybe you’re just not the target demographic, boomers.
Very nicely put together video and very entertaining as well. Thanks for posting this.
That bed in the room looks like a sofa bed. And that carpeting in the hallway……😯😯😯😯
They kicked out Steve and Catherine from " All you Can Vegas " !! They tried to review the restaurant.
they need to have a Star Wars hotel and casino
forget about this place – They need Star Wars land hotel and casino- virgin just plain virgin
its not a hot mess, its A CONSTRUCTION AND DESIGN MESS up
bring back the THEMED CASINO, or else you just got plain modern boring
Thanks Miles, I do not think I would do Virgin Vegas IMHO!
All the restaurants except two at NYNY are run by ARK or are individual tenants, but the employees are employed by those specific entities and are not shuffled between companies. That just sounds way to fly by night for me and a asking for trouble.
Stayed at hard Rock a couple of years ago. Wasn't impressed. 1 pool was open. Wouldn't stay at virgin. I've stayed at a few properties in Vegas. Like to try different ones but don't stay here.
Used to watch "Not leaving las Vegas" for all my Vegas info. Now I subbed to you guys cuz you guys are accurate and fun to listen to.
I understand the hotel is taking some lumps, I'm definitely not the travel expert. But, I would like to point out, the Mohegan Sun Casino at this property did have pretty playable blackjack. 3 to 2 Double deck and Six deck. Hand shuffled, and the six deck shoe had re-split aces. That shoe was a $10 minimum, the double deck was $25. The six deck table is just slightly above average for the area and stakes, and there is plenty of them. I would say the casino actually has some of the best $10 blackjack availability anywhere near the strip, in any direction. The only exception being Ellis Island, which is very small.
I stumbled onto this video after watching some other popular Las Vegas vloggers just for general information,…and to listen to different opinions I wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed the format and ''give and take '' style of the discussions. Very enjoyable.
1:55 not a single white person at that beach lmao
It looked disastrous! Plus not allowing bloggers was not a good choice!
Steven from NLLV bashed Virgin about their food policy of not being allowed to be brought back into the room, mocked them on their room rates and what a bad neighborhood it’s in, then he wonders why he was singled out and 86!!! when all other vloggers were left alone.
Why would anyone stay there? Totally off strip in a sketchy area even though adjacent to UNLV. Avoid at all costs and pay same amount in Center City
Virgin Hotel policy! no outside food or drinks allowed in room.
I could stay there for free Via Hilton, ill pass……nothing is appealing about Virgin…..
If you think this room is bare, you should see what Virgin did with a cruise ship. The design is straight out of an IKEA, and the light switches are inside the closet. Very disappointing brand.
It’s the weakest horrifying casino in Vegas. Pathetic how the British take a vantage of Americans. We’re just sheep and they want to get paid.💵💵💵💵.
Theres 2 bar areas with machines, but the people that play those for the free drinks basically, already have them snagged and hang onto them. Virgins focus must be more on the people who don't mind using plastic to pay 50 bucks and tip for 3 drinks. Opening night was pretty cool and very busy later on, but its definitely not the same now, though I did think it was nicely decorated, or at least had that brand new novelty. Unfortunately, its away from the strip and amenities like pool are not open, and the surrounding areas can seem sketchy, especially Paradise back toward Flamingo, with that giant strip club right across the street!
Fyre Festival?!? Did Virgin hire Billy McFarland for the grand opening?
Virgin can rest assured, people won't hate it more than Linq
Aria Sky Suites for the win! Still my number 1!
Sad really…the Hard Rock was my favorite Las Vegas property! It had such a cool vibe!
Virgin cruises are just as bad…I saw the launch of the first cruise and the light as you enter your room is hidden in the closet..
💖👍 the carpet!!
Had wanted to stay here, but your site are not the only ones having trembling things to say about it. Only thing I hear good are the staff. 🤔👩🦼
I live in Massachusetts and know the Mohegan Sun casino well, so I'm not surprised that it was a major failure on opening day. I've never been impressed with the service or treatment of their customers at Mohegan. When I heard they were involved in the Virgin Hotel and Casino, I feared the worst. No surprise to me it was a "hot mess".
Call me anything but I liked more the 90s Strip area, where resorts had its own theme
Natural light was at the Wynn for decades.
It should have stayed as Hard Rock Hotel, instead of allowing the property to change into a virgin. I had found a small bowl of Chicken Caesars Salad, which I found out that it costs $11.00, not including tax, with tax it would cost a total of $11.92.
