1:17 or you can get the gold for 90,000 points and the platinum for 150,000 points. Its very easy to find these points thru referrals. Doesn't matter which card you apply for first.
I got the 150k bonus for the platinum. Should i down grade to gold, or get the gold 90k intro offer too and then transfer my platinum points to gold and cancel the platinum. I really don't have a need for the platinum and cant justify the annual fee without the 150k bonus. would they take my points from me?
I think I let the hype get to me, I originally got the Gold card because I eat out a lot with the family so made sense but once I was researching I got FOMO with the Platinum learning all about it and went for it like a week later 🤦🏻♂️ so far I’ve used some of the credits not all but we’ll see how the rest of the year will go with it, great video as always 🕵🏻
Idk how this works but I had an outstanding chance at being approved for a platinum Amex but only a fair chance at the blue card
Damn it! Where was this vid a week ago..
🕵️ I was working on building out Chase cards when got 150k for Plat and took it even though I’m not traveling much these days. So trying to use credits and offers to cover the AF. Watching for outsized SUB offers.
🕵️♂️ love your insights! Keep it up.
I admit when i first started, i did the cash back for MR 🤦♂️
🕵️♀️ I’m currently at 5/24 and have only business cards with Amex. Would you recommend doing more business cards to try and get below 5/24 or go after the personal Amex cards. I have 6 personal and 4 business cards with chase now. But there’s always another chase card I may want to try and add.
My first AMEX was the BCP since it made sense for me at the time (and still does). I remember looking at the perks of the platinum back then and almost being repulsed at the lack of applicability to my life and the annual fee. A few years later my income has gone up, and I'm traveling for work a lot. The plat makes a lot more sense now. I got it with an 80k SUB. I scrounged but couldn't find anything higher. For me, every CC I have has to have positive value without regard to the SUB anyway. I wasn't ready for the platinum back then, but the BCP gave me a lot of value. And I didn't know if in the future if I would ever be ready for the platinum when I got the BCP.

Currently in amex popup jail. Got.the ihg card instead of green or aspire
Perfect storm is brewing in the United States. Inflation , severe drought in the agricultural belt , recession, food shortages, diesel fuel and heating oil shortages and prices . It’s all coming together and it could lead to a real disaster towards the end of this year ( or sooner )
🕵♂Great video. How would you handle having a sock-drawer keeper card such as the $95 AF Marriott Bonvoy card?
It's a keeper card because of the Free Night Certificate, but it's also a sock-drawer card because of the 2X multiplier so not using the card puts you in Pop-Up Jail.
Got the 150k plat offer and 90k gold offer last weeks lol
My bad experience with Chase two years ago worked in my favor because it opened the door for me to do research about credit cards. I have every card which covers every monthly expense category. I have been a member with American Express since 1989 and burned them twice, know about their excellent services since the 70's. Chase cards are excellent, I am an authorized on 3 of my wife's chase card, aiming for her to get Chase Sapphire Preferred and World Hayat cards during the next 12 months as I am far beyond 5/24. Yes I do agree with getting Chase Cards first but #1 rule in credit cards game is pay your balance every month, no debt, makes no difference what card you get first. My first goal is to get 5% cash back on anything I purchase or pay a bill. High Annual fees are not an issue for me, nothing is free but I am not going to buy an airline ticket just to stay one free night anniversary stay at a fancy resort in Bora Bora. There is a limit a middle class couple or family can spend on a vacation without going into debt which most people do. Working in a service industry, most people pay with debit cards, alternative credit cards with no benefits, indication that they are raking debt, very few use cards for points or cashback. Ask Sebby channel is a must to follow, knowledge is valuable, even a minor tip is worth watching the whole video.

🕵️♂️ I got in too early to the Amex Plat, mainly with the introductory points (before I found your channel lol) but I don't regret it! Honestly this card has already paid for itself (only have had it since November) and has gave me peace of mind with the added benefits it has, like travel and rental insurance. I can't wait to see what else I will be able to get out of it in the near future!
I was approved for the card with a 100k offer, I have not accepted the offer yet. Is there a way to try and get the 150k offer instead? Or should I decline the card and go with the 100k offer

As much as I'd love to get an Amex set up, I just can't justify it financially. In year 1, the SUB's pay for the annual fee's easily as I'm getting targeted for the 150K Plat and 90K Gold. I'd also add the Blue Business Plus so I can at least get 2X MR points on up to $50K. Come year 2+ using the calculators on the site, the annual fees would end up having me owe several hundred dollars to Amex for the privilege of holding their cards due to the coupon book nature of the credits, that for my use case, just are not going to be used.
The Venture X on the other hand easily pays for itself both on Year 1 and Year 2+ as it a definite keeper card.
Hoping 2023 has a new card that I can really get value from.
There is a good chance I may be downgrading next renewal from Amex Plat to Amex Gold. One of the main justifications on my end is that Uber monthly credit has value (would be using anyway). However, I only use for Uber Eats and (in my area) they are horrific and much better results with Door Dash or GrubHub. Out of last 20+ Uber Eats orders/deliveries, I have had issues with MORE THAN HALF! The $20/mo credit for streaming services (for me, either Disney or Peacock) is where I find the rest of the value in keeping the Amex Plat. So, I justify the higher annual fee (Plat v. Gold) between Uber and Streaming. The airline credits not so much in my use case, because do not travel routinely.
I got my Amex Platinum card in November in anticipation of international travel later that month. I could not pass up the 150K bonus either. Mainly the card is for Centurion Lounge access since I already have Priority Pass with CSR. In the first month of having the card, I visited two Centurion Lounges and they were great. It's not my every day card but with the lounge access and the credits, this card is a keeper for me.
🕵I wish I'd known about the Chase 5/24 rule sooner. As Brit who moved to US after many years of being a loyal Amex user, I opted for their cards early on due to them accepting me based on my UK credit history. AMEX are still my go to, but I now need to be patient before I can start adding some Chase cards. Capital One are a little frustrating. I have a Platinum card from when I was building up my credit history, but they don't seem to want to upgrade me. I am now pre-approved for a Quicksilver, but they won't change my existing card to this offer, I have to have a second card.
Can you look into and talk about the Marriott giving out 55 nights on certain card combos?

I was in pop up jail. I spent $800-$1000 for 3 months on all 3 of my Amex cards., and got out.
🕵️ my mistake wasn't major but Resy had a better SUB at the time and I forgot to go that route instead.
First credit card I ever snagged was the Amex Platinum due to its waived annual fee for military. Zero regrets. 🤘
