Thanks this helped explain a lot since they had no idea how this could happen when they called, the critical thing not yet explained is why the vendors are allowing brute force at such a large quantity of attempts in such a short amount of time. Since this is the only way an attack like this would be possible, without an attack from the inside. Guessing numbers is easy for a computer, but only if the vendors allow attempts in the billions per day at the very least.
