Exploring the Hoodoos at Bryce Canyon National Park | Things to See & Tips for Maximizing Your Trip – Trip Astute

by YouTube Team

Bryce Canyon National Park is a smaller park, especially when compared to Zion National Park. However, it’s a national park worth visiting, especially with its high concentration of hoodoos! In this video, we cover things to do at Bryce Canyon (including our favorite sights), where we stayed, and some tips to maximize your visit.

This series is awesome for someone who hasn't been out west! I'm from coastal VA and have been as far as St. Louis. The geography out at these parks is amazing. I gotta get out there!

I just want to reemphasize #6. The weather can change in Bryce quickly. I was there in June in a snow storm. Thanks

We visited all mighty five last year. Bryce was our favorite. Being from SC it was a wondrous beautiful place. A must see.

I'm wanting to do my first hike ever, which will also be solo and am looking into this park and Zion. Are these parks something you'd recommend for a first timer, in decent but not fabulous shape?

I'm visiting Bryce and Zion next week. After 3 months of research, I'm disappointed that Zion is not the most tourists friendly place for tourists who don't drive. So I'm joining a tour from Vegas instead of going on my own.
Have you been to cappadocia, Turkey? Since I visited cappadocia last July, I can't help but I have to compare both. I have a feeling that cappadocia is more impressive, because of all the hot air balloon rides

Great info, planning a trip for November. I noticed it looked like your wife had a lens on an iphone ??? in one of the clips. Not sure if that IS what I saw but if it was do you have information on it?

Great job on the video. This is a must see before heading to the park. Just did the Figure 8 combo trail. Amazing!! Best tip in the video is 'Start Early.'

Quick tip:If you go to bryce canyon start from the back of the park and make your way toward the front. There are less people there in the morning then in the afternoon

Great video. Exactly how I'd have described. Having been there many times, I'd suggest that you DO go to the park early for sunrise (Sunset point works just as well as Sunrise point.) After that, I drive all the way down to the Rainbow point and make stops at the in between points on the way back. Depending on how crowded the park is, I'm done with the whole thing before people start making their way down to Rainbow point. I like it that way (also visiting during off season.)

were you able to park inside the park while you hiked the queen and navajo trail or did you have to use the shuttles?

Thanks for this helpful video! We will be at Bryce next week (pheww) and trying to pre-plan as much as possible with 2 smaller kids. For the Amphitheater (Bryce Pt, Inspiration, Sunset, Sunrise) is there a parking there or we have to Park at Visitor Center and take a shuttle there?

Multiple people made the same comment, but I have to say this was THE most informational hike vid I’ve ever watched. It was exactly what I wanted! Most of the time I just watch the person hike through and make my own conclusions. Keep up the great videos! I very much appreciate it!

I found the best time to do the easy Sunrise Point / Sunset Point rim walk is about 45 minutes to one hour after sunrise. The sun needs to get high enough to illuminate the amphitheater while being low enough to provide that soft, warm light (what photographers call the golden hour). The rocks glowed with colors that you don't see at mid-day.

I've visited in March and would highly recommend wearing an old pair of shoes since at that time of year it was very muddy. The mud and snow did make it more challenging and limited how far we could hike. But Bryce is definitely worth seeing because it feels otherworldly!
