strange I've always found Aria better maintained and much cleaner than Cosmo having stayed in both many times, I preferred the fountain view rooms and service in Cosmo, but otherwise…

I've been going to Vegas for 15 years and when I got where I had a hard time walking I started doing Fremont Street

Maybe Ethel M can change up their display by offering a Chris Angel show at the end of the tour.

I've never eaten at any of Guy Fieri's restaurants, I may have to go try one when I'm back in Vegas this spring. Definitely excited about Fontainebleau, from those photos, it appears they're making it look similar to the one in Miami Beach. I've stayed at that location many times when I go down to South Beach and really enjoyed my time there.

As noted in the opening I miss the coins in and out of the old slot machines. However I do remember how hard it was to collect and cash in the coins especially the nickel machines. If you hit for any medium size prize you would have two or three buckets of coins to redeem. So for the smaller domination coin machines I like the change to ticket in And out. But I would love to see say a dollar operated slot machine still use coins or tokens to hear and feel the thrill of the coins dropping into your tray. However just like everything else I doubt we will ever see it again due to the labor and the cost of physically needing to count the coins verses the simple paper receipts used today.

Of course Fontainebleu is empty! Carl Icahn emptied that place out. Wouldn't be surprised if he liquidated the electrical outlet covers.

We stayed in strip view room at Monte Carlo when they were driving the beams into the ground for City Center. All we heard was the banging the entire time. Think MGM updated the insulation for the hideous Park? 😀😁🤣

ABOUT TIME WE GOT A DATE FOR THE COSMO CONVERSION! I thought I was going to have to call Criss Angel and have him work his magic to make this happen. I just hope my comps/rewards with MGM will help offset some of the costs of Cosmo cause that would be SWEEEEEET!

Went to Cosmo the first time since Covid as I had a free room. It was not as elegant as I remember, smelled like cigarettes, filled with people, and not worth going anymore. Very disappointing experience. I’m ride or die with Wynn. Btw, love the podcast being separated to two days.

I wasn't impressed with the trash can nachos…not a re-buy for me. Guy Fieri loved being at UNLV and graduated in 1990 with a BS in Hotel Management. I wonder how much of Dropicana will be completed by Superbowl 2024. What a headache.

I can't wait to see Fontainebleau when it opens up. And even though I do enjoy Resorts World very much, I don't think that's the direction Fontainebleau is gravitating toward. I think theirs will be more of a cross between Wynn and Vdara: both undoubtedly very luxurious resorts that appeal to deeper-pocketed clientele, but different in the sense that Wynn still can be pretty lively and gregarious with their share of nightlife and the Lake Of Dreams show, whereas the Vdara is more intimate and appeals to those who want to be right at the heart of Vegas but not necessarily smack dab in the action: of which conventioneers make up a sizable chunk of that demographic. So maybe the Vdara comparison doesn't inspire the most confidence (even though I love that resort) because it doesn't feel as quintessentially Vegas and is more introverted, but Wynn definitely has that Vegas touch with the waterfalls, the Lake Of Dreams show and their loud and proud nightlife which does inspire confidence in my mind.

What is interesting about the Fontainebleau is that the original, famed Miami Beach resort opened all the way back in 1956, so it's kind of amusing that you were waxing poetic toward the end of this episode about what were the fresh faced resorts of the late 80s through mid 90s now becoming the elder states-resorts of the Strip and being intrigued as to which of this new generation of resorts will leave the most lasting influence and legacy………………..and Fontainebleau is kind of both worlds in a sense: with over 65 years of history and counting under the original resort's belt and also being on the National Register of Historic Places, and only now preparing to open its second-ever resort right in Vegas. I don't know, I just feel that gives the whole conversation an additional fascinating wrinkle.
