They're trying to shed Platinum card users to take strain off the lounge networks. Since they're not going to ditch loyal users, they've elected to raise the annual fee and add a bunch of extremely niche perks, and see who ditches their cards
For me, the BP/Shell benefits are useless because I can only gain the cashback from the app. I want to be able to pull up to the pump, get my gas and go. And the cashback just automatically applies itself once amex recognizes the merchant.
AMEX Platinum sucks now. All of the good benefits are now gone. And for them to add Walmart + … what?!?! This is supposed to be a targeted card at high-net-worth individuals. Typically high net worth folks aren't shopping at Walmart. So this is no benefit. And Walmart gas? What high net worth individual goes to Walmart for gas?
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the the new Chase World of Hyatt Business card. It's underwhelming.
Wondering Which credit card reward points can exchange for Cash to bank account?
Added Walmart + even though I never shop there … It's "free"
Who watched Sebby's interview with Graham Stephan?! I am so impressed!
Anyone know when the lounge in LAX will re-open?
This is a disaster!!
Amex should bring back the PayPal credit. It's pretty easy to use for us but I guess not so good for Amex.
A lot of hoops for these benefits I would find myself on that bike sobbing trying to get use out of that 300$ Exercise credit I wouldn’t care about in the first place 😂😂
Annnnnnnnd this is why America is drowning in debt….
I used the Walmart plus perk already. Walmart is on the other side of the city while target and Amazon charges > $10 for the same item. I placed the order at 5pm and got it delivered 10am the next day. So I’m ok with them adding perks as long as travel value doesn’t get devalued (any further)
🔋🔋
Walmart? People shop in Walmart used food stamps.lol
Instead of that benefit for streaming services, why not have an annual credit for live theater, opera, sports, music events??
Aspire card is my favorite. I say that like I'm paid, but I'm not. At my work, I pay for a bottle of diet Dr. Pepper at a vending machine with my Aspire (only), because my gold won't trigger it as a multiplier. My Aspire does. (it's the little things, Sebby you know…. and all you smart peeps).
Also I get credits for -20$ constantly with it.
Do some research on the card, (dumb shit like diamond status saved me just a few months ago for a festival)
Can you do a review of the Amex platinum for Canada and determine if it’s worth the $699 annual fee? Thank you
I’m definitely taking advantage of the Walmart membership benefit! And I love Amex Offers!👍
I use American Express for the benefits, pretty much. I travel all over so it is a perfect for me.
I have both Gold and Platinum so I have about 30 days to pay my balance, but they also have other payment plans. I have not try those yet because I am not really sure how they work or if they could influence my credit somehow, but I will be reading about it more in depth.
For now, it works the way I use them
Look, Ive said this before the platinum card is moving toward a lifestyle card, they have lost money on travel since the pandemic. I cancelled this card. No way was I going to pay $700 for that card. I'd rather invest in them since their interest rev is increasing.
Walmart??? Do people with AMEX Platinum Cards go to Walmart? and if so, would they admit to it?
If I get an invite to this card…if I accept will I get a credit decrease if I’m already pre approved ?
I didn’t get the HBO max offer. I rather get more subscription offers than the $300 bike credit. Instead give me $300 credit that I can spend on any tv subscription service.
I’m looking forward to them introducing 50 cents off coupon for Dunkin’ Donuts. 😂
Everyone: Calculating to see if the annual fee is worth getting "insert AMEX card"
Me, a Service Member: gets annual fee waived
Not necessarily a perk or luxury (since again, I am in the military and have to live the lifestyle), but it's definitely appreciated AMEX!
Do existing Amex customers ever get the same targeted offer as non-Amex customers?
I got 30% offer, lol. Not worth the cash out for me
Amex Platinum seems like it has gone away of being a travel card and more of a lifestyle card now. most of the benefits now have no use for me
I signed up for the Walmart + immediately!
Hey there Sebby! So I recently received my AMEX Platinum card and made short work of the nee welcome offer to earn 100,000 membership points after $6,000. I made the purchases on Oct 10 and 11th. And paid both off on the 12th and 14th. I’m a little unsure when AMEX issues the rewards. Is it when the statement generates? How long does it usually take? Thanks in advance and keep up the great content!!

Woow thank you Sebastian we are new here
Wayyy too aggressive with the video aspect ratio editing
Have the Amex Business Platinum and just signed up for the Amex Platnium for personal too. Should be here tomorrow. Thanks man.
The two main reason I got the Platinum card was for free roadside assistance and the companion airline ticket. They no longer offer either of those. They used to offer free auto insurance coverage on rental cars — did they do away with that as well? My annual fee has gone UP from $500 a year to $700 a year, yet the benefits have gone DOWN. I'm thinking of getting rid of it.
I agree that amex is the king of partnership offers. Personal experience: bulk of my spend is almost always in chase cards yet I, somehow, end up using amex offers more than chase offers. Im talking about thousands saved in amex offers compared to may be a few dozen on chase. Still figuring out why… 🙂
Douches pay $695 a year for a credit card and all of a sudden Walmart is beneath them lol. But they will buy shit from Amazon.
Is the typical AmEx Platinum holder a typical Walmart shopper? I think not.
Than you for sharing.
Love how USA card users complain about the benefits in the comments and blogs while us in the UK are… crickets
I don’t personally shop at Walmart much but my sister and mom do. So I gave them the Walmart plus. I have a feeling Walmart is eating most of the monthly fee to try to grow their market to people that wouldn’t step into a store.
Are Amex cards mostly hype??? You shouldn't have to work that hard to make a CC worth it.
There's an offer for AT&T Fiber spend $50 get $50. You can pay more on your bill than you owe to get this promotion.
I have had a platinum card for many, many years now and honestly, the annual fee has gone up over the years, but the benefits, even for just a casual traveler, easily cover the cost. My favorite perk is the Clear membership. That program is awesome and saves an incredible amount of time (not to mention stress relief) when getting through TSA. Great content! I am also a university professor teaching finance and have recommended your channel to my students as a place to learn about the benefits of credit. Well done!
Those subscription offers are for all Amex cards I used my HBO offer with my Hilton Honors card back in April or May
The green card has the same offers.
