Episode Description

The 2022 Las #Vegas Visitor Profile survey came out this week and it provides many insights into who visited the city, how much they spent, how they got here and so much more. We’ll dive into the data that shows us most people are satisfied with their Vegas experience and that visitors coming to town are younger than ever.

In other #news security concerns were raised at Harry Reid International Airport after a body was left sitting in a car for 23 days. With other burglaries happening in the parking lot, is it safe to leave vehicles there? We also discuss a survey mentioning Caesars selling status, the schedule for #Formula1 repaving, a cool new venue heading to Red Rock and a new look at the new Durango casino.

The Tesla robot will be checking cars in parking lots, and doing every other mundane job by next year.

I am going to Atlantic City next week for 1 day (commuting by train from Philadelphia). Then going to LV in 3 weeks for 4 nights. I haven't been to AC since I was living in Philly right after 9/11.

Flying from ATL to either LV or PHL on SW is bad as PHL has no direct SW flights. So flying non-stop on Delta to both these two trips. Total trip time to my hotel will be shorter in LV as AC needs a 1:45 train ride after 2 hour flight. I've been staying at Flamingo for a couple of years now, but Horseshoe is a bit cheaper this time. Still even as Diamond I'm paying over $60/night. Checking rates in AC Caesars is even more. If it happens that Rio becomes a Hyatt property bookable on points that will become my goto.

I'm basically satisfied with my trips to LV because I know what to expect. If car rentals weren't so expensive it would be even better.

Happy birthday Shawn!! Another great show, thank you gents. We found out about Fremont St. not being kid friendly even during daytime hours our last trip, this is a good PSA. Have a good weekend!

Vegas was definitely more fun 20-40 years ago. The Soulless Corporate Influence has been a net Negative. Vegas was truly better when “The Mob” ran the town as depicted in the movie Casino.

I live in California and I fly all the time with my wife now. It's only like $150-250 southwest total for 2 round trip (cheaper or the same price to drive). We will never buy a status at ceasers, became Diamond then they took away the lounge and split the tier into 3. We can cut the line for things and not pay resort fee but not worth it. Now we are lower teir and only pay resort fees plus no lines cuz we go on weekdays. Bet security got in a lot of trouble for the parking. Who cares about the loop, wasting that guys time. Chris Angle will be at your party but he will be invisible. Happy Birthday

It should be a big deal if it were the same passenger ride the loop one million times. Happy birthday.

Happy birthday Shawn. Another great shows guy's. The loop is not for me too claustraphobic. In the old days I mostly went for the shows.I saw some iconic people and shows in the 70's and 80's. Gambled a bit and because I was young loved the cheap food. Las Vegas sure has evolved with the likes of pro football and the like. Still a little pricey. Thanks again for great updates and analysis guys'.

BAGS BY CAB YARN TRAVELS March 18, 2023 - 1:12 am

Hi Shawn and Mark! Thank you for sharing the numbers on the visitors to Vegas survey with us. The survey clearly speaks to me of first time visitors, which happen to be of a younger age. I think it is basic and very simple: If you are a very seasoned traveler and especially with Vegas, then you understand how Vegas use to be, and the customer service and hospitality of old. Those folks would be like myself. My young adult kids who go to Vegas with their friends (whom have never been there before), simply have nothing to compare it with. Therefore, the high prices, the less Show options, the lack of personable hospitality and customer service issues simply do not matter to them. They are going there to Party and happy to be there. So there you have it! Happy Friday to you two! Enjoy. Happy Birthday to you, Shawn! CAB🎂😊

Happy birthday Shawn 🎂
Yeah, I don’t like corporate Vegas 3.0. My first trip to Vegas was in late 90s, staying at Stardust & saw Crazy Girls show for $16 including 1 cocktail. Lunch buffet at Sahara was $4.99. I really do miss those good old Vegas days. Wasn’t impressed with my $12 pizza slice at Pin Up pizza few months ago ☹️

Happy Birthday! My wife and I hit Vegas 2-3 times a year. Both gamble. With the rise of casinos everywhere we started scaling back our visits. The experience isn’t worth the flt and other hassles anymore. Shame, miss the old vegas

As a big outlet mall shopper, I have to say that the two outlet malls Vegas has, Premium Outlets North & South are one of the major reasons why (besides the restaurants & gambling) I like to visit Vegas. Compared to the outlet malls near where I live in Seattle, the deals at these two outlet malls are way better, though Premium Outlets North has a better selection than its southern cousin. However Premium Outlets South is indoors which is a plus in the summer.

Jan 2023 Vegas had 3.2 M visitors but they surveyed only ~6K people for the visitor profile, that is not even a fraction of a fraction of the visitors and in my view can hardly accurately represent how people rate the value of their Vegas experience. I think your YouTube feedback is a more accurate representation of the truth.
