Welcome to MtM #Vegas – Our weekly look at the cool #news and happenings in Sin City.
This week we learned that one of the most historic Vegas casinos was finally sold. #Tropicana Las Vegas will soon have new owners, but what does it mean for this aging property and for the South part of the Vegas Strip?
We also learned that Las Vegas will be going back to 100% capacity with social distancing requirements being eliminated. How will this impact Summer crowds in Las Vegas. Will this be the busiest Summer ever for tourism in Southern Nevada?
During the show we’ll also talk about how Cosmo is paying employees to get vaccinated, how Caesars is once again increasing prices and we’ll debate Bellagio’s new room renovations and whether the elimination of the bathtub in their rooms is a gamechanger.

I think you have it right. MGM thinks it looks sexy to have those clear glass showers, like it's going to be so cool to walk into the bathroom while your girlfriend is taking a shower.
However, it has a second effect. I think MGM is deliberately discouraging not just older, wealthier vacationers, but also families. No one with little kids is going to book a room w/o a bathtub, but beyond that, can you imagine having your teenage daughter in tow and getting that clear shower? Oh my, you would never get into the bathroom. 🙂
Personally I preferred the old Bellagio decor. I thought it was fun, but I know a lot of people disagreed.
What I find confusing is that a hotel builds so large, that to survive, they have to sell a number of floors to another hotel. So you arrive at the famous big name hotel, go to your floor, and even though you're in the world famous named hotel, your room and floor are owned by another hotel.
Once social distancing ends, masks will be the MOST important item to help control the spread of Covid.
I've never yet had a shower in a real shower stall. Up until now, I've only ever been in a shower that's been over a tub, with a shower curtain. And the shower curtain gets sucked in, against your legs and body.
The beautiful Mirage still has the tub/shower combo, with the shower curtain. And went deaf during my shower there this past April – the shower gave out such a loud high pitched sqeal as the water ran.
I always watch and never comment so here it is! Also cant wait to go to Vegas next weekend ill be staying at the Luxor and i hope i get to stay at one of their renovated rooms! Do you know if their Pyramid Premier suite is getting renovated also? Thats where ill be staying. I hope so. Great channel keep it up!
I work for TSA and we are severely understaffed and will continue to be as long as unemployment is as high as it is. The government knee jerked and retired/fired as many as they could when Covid hit. The remainder of us are being mistreated and overworked. Things are going to be bad for quite awhile. I’m in FL now and live in AZ. They are BEGGING people to work and nobody is interested, especially in front line work. About half of us got Covid, myself included and we were some of the last people to get PPE even though they insisted on keeping airports open. Get ready for long lines this summer at airports! Already 1.5 to 2 hour waits in places like SeaTac. Side note, as short staffed as we are, they are still sending us to the border to help CBP with the “non” crisis! 🙄
I’m a man in his 50s and after walking around Vegas all day sitting in a nice hot sunken bathtub is the ultimate relaxation!!!
We stayed at the Bellagio in March and I am glad we did. I prefer the old room style. I like having drawers and the only ones I saw were in the nighstand. I watched another video by a couple with the handle Checker. I found it funny and they really were not impressed with the renovation. I really prefer Aria to Bellagio anyway, it's more of my aesthetic. I also like the layout of the property. We are coming back in July and trying out Vdara.
Wonder if its bad timing for new Tropicana. Isn't south-end of LVB Strip next for major road repairs?
Last time I used a tub in Vegas was 15 years ago and I didn’t use it normally. I used it like a drunk at 3am.
I really love the Tropicana, it would be perfect if they had a better air filtration system on the casino floor, that smoke aint no joke. I hope they don't go in trying to change it up too much. Love u guys👏👏👏👏
Don't like Cosmo's vaccine policy. It pits employees against each other. Wynn is taking a much higher road, imo.
Was the trop the first place that had blackjack in the pool? Seems like it
Honestly I'll pick a hotel based off the bath tub
I find Tropicana as just kind of a sad place…I used to stay there back in the 90’s and early 2000’s—-it was a little tired even then and it hasn’t gotten any more fresh…Shame!
Any word on shows coming back? Any word from Cirque? Do they still exist?
Super informative as always , keep it up – you mentioned the football in this area .Orlando has a cool downtown pre-match area owned by the soccer club – is there an equivalent area in Vegas –
Hey Brohiem's you both are so much more intelligent then U appear (look)! For the annually tripster to lost wages ur insight into how this place works is much appreciated KEEP UP THE FANTASTIC JOB! The Original Obie Juan will back 4 Pro Bowl Super Bowl weekends 2021 Thanks Again 4 info Live long and proper hit a progressive 4 me Obie Juan
Very disappointed at the removal of tubs in LV. My wife and I stayed at Bellagio last year specifically for the Fountainview Room with the tub. She could relax in the tub and see the fountains. We could watch the fountain and listen to them on the TV from our room. This will keep us from staying at Bellagio. We are keeping an eye on construction updates for places removing tubs.
And why are so many people commenting about the carpet change? Do you care what the carpet looks like as you are walking to your room? I can't imagine this being a sticking point. Same with the furniture. It all looks nice, but it doesn't change my decision.
they got rid of the tubs? i love baths. i would not stay in a room without a tub sorry. i like to drink and soak and listen to music. a tub is required for me.
The shower tub combo at Aria is nice.
The ventilation in the Tropicana casino is bad. I remember walking into the casino during NFR and the smoke was so bad I walked right back out.
Well done men!
I’m surprised the Bellagio removed their tubs. After a long day of walking or an evening out dancing, it’s really nice to have a relaxing soak in the tub. I loved having a soak in a luxurious bathroom. Bummer. 👎🏻
I had the virus twice! And lost a childhood friend to the virus. You can bet I got the first & second shot! Like your site. 👍🥰👩🦼
Please tell what you think about the casino's on Freemont 🥰👩🦼
Venetian/Palazzo also has huge rooms with separate showers and tub’s
I normally would look for a tub in a luxury hotel
I don't feel you go to Vegas and relax so a tub for me isn't a deal breaker!
Vacation is the only occasion I have time to soak in a tub.
Nice to see that the showgirl costumes are still used…
My oldest sister is moving with her husband to Las Vegas. They love that city, and they are sick of NorCal. They’re wealthy, so they can afford a home in a fancy enclave, and to party at the Wynn every day/night (it’s their favorite place).🙄
Hi Shawn! Very much enjoyed this video. I am a shower person as I am always in a hurry. So, on the Bellagio reno I completely agree with you Mark. Bellagio is a luxury high end property looking to target a different high end traveler; the younger crowd with money, Honey! Enjoy your weekend Guys! CAB 😉
A tub is an amenity I always search for when looking for a nice room
I love a soaking tub. As a young man I have no shame saying I take baths when I travel but feel the bathroom having no tub or shower door was really upsetting. The faucet isn’t big enough for that size of a shower. I’m not staying there after my last visit. They can keep there water themed room. It’s a disgrace to what Steve Wynn built. Italian design is timeless and instantly high end. Not sure what they thinking was there. Obliviously the people who designed the room is out of touch with culture
Do you know what the sale of Trop means for existing reservations with Hilton there? Are they valid or will they be taken over by Ballys?
I certainly hope masks stay for Avery long time…
In your video people were passing each other with just inches to spare…no 2 metres there!
Opening to full compactly without mask is just crazy..especially before everyone has had there vaccinations…
Be interesting to see if Vegas becomes a virus hotspot…..
You don’t waste time by sitting in a tub…no way.
Vegas is way to expensive for that…in the shower and out…..!
Tubs are not for hotel rooms especially when time is literally money.
The bathroom looks fabulous I love it….
Without the rock and roll memorabilia of the Hardrock, I think most of the Virgin Resort was done well in a creative way. Las Vegas doesnt have to have "Themed" hotels- that was the thing in the late 90s and early 2000s.
To the dude crapping on the Virgin, dude take off your hat and get a better background behind you when you do a live telecast.
Thanks guys a job well done
Being a Lady in my middle 50s, (And Arthritis) I take mostly Hot Bubble baths nowadays. Sadly the Bellagio was me and my Husband favorite, He would love the Shower. But I need a bathtub. Priorities you know,
Haven't used a tub since I was 6 years old – seriously wtf
So Bally’s the company owns Tropicana but caesars owns Bally’s the casino but not the main company??
