Hey Credit warriors and yes stimulus debit cards are back, the IRS has said that 8 million people will receive their stimulus payment in the form of a debit card mailed to them. Now last time they did this, there was some confusion.
The problem was the envelope for the first round of stimulus debit cards looked like this.
So the IRS and the treasury have updated it. The envelope now does actually show the emblem of the US Treasury and it also says: Not a bill or an advertisement. Important information about your economic impact payment.
That is because a lot of people during the first round of these cards actually threw them out thinking they were junk mail. The IRS issued a statement saying: “IRS and Treasury urge eligible people who don’t receive a direct deposit to watch their mail carefully during this period,”
And they have also said that if you received a paper check last time, it may be a debit card this time, or the other way around.
So now you know the envelope looks like, here is what the letter and the card itself look like. They are using the same American flag stars as the first stimulus debit card, the back looks like this.
Now to activate your card, which is officially called an Economic Impact Payment card or EIP card. You have to call this number, you will set a 4 digit pin and they will tell you your balance. You can find out all this information at EIPcard.com but I’ll give you a few key points. The card can be used to pay for things in stores like a normal debit card with no fee, then you can also use it to withdraw cash from ATMs, with no fee as long as it is within network. The cards use the All Point ATM network and there is an ATM finder on the website EIPcard.com that you can use to locate one, you can also download the all point app. There is a $2 fee for out of network ATM’s.
One fee they have got rid of this time is the card reissuance and delivery fee. So if you had cut your card up because you thought it was junk mail last time you would have to pay $7.50 to get it re-issued and then if you wanted it fast there was a priority shipping fee of $17. Well now replacement cards are free and it seems they have got rid of the priority shipping option so you’ll just have to wait 7 to 10 business days.
All the information you need can be found at EIPcard.com, so if you want to know more you can go on that website to find the number to register the card, use the ATM finder, look up the cardmember agreement, fees and anything else. Thanks for doing the due diligence and putting out this video, as someone who is working on this project, its good to have this information out there on many different channels. A lot of mistakes from the first round have been sorted out so there shouldn't be much friction this time.
I already received my stimulus paper check. I had to go to the bank in person to deposit it because government checks cannot be deposited digitally.

Can I ask you a question about interests?
Let’s say I slide my card for $1k on 25th and my credit cart closing and due date is at 30th of each month and obviously my minimum payment is $0 after 5 days of sliding my card but my question is that I have 30 days to pay the whole amount to avoid the interest? Is that it works?
The only card is upfront about this is my Apple Card that literally shows if I’m paying $1 interest or $0 but other cards are hiding at information!

If that card is lost or comes in completely different name you will not get a new card. The number to call for a new card does not work you can't talk to anybody. You lose your stimulus unless you file for it next year on taxes. EIP is awful. If you don't have card info or card does match last 6 digits of social. You are out of luck. He won't tell you that though.

It looks like you have to open an account with MetaBank to activate the card. I don't want a bank account just sitting there that I don't use. I guess I would have to close the account. Maybe I'm reading it wrong. I can just see this bank charging you a fee every month for years on end that your not aware of and then suing for thousands.

Thank you for your video. I received a direct deposit for the 1st stimulus check. This time I received card and letter that looks like it was a scam. After a few internet searches they told me it was legit, but I just didn't believe it. Then I searched on YT and found your video. WTF, this card is legit, but I can't w/d from my bank without being charged money and a bunch of other crap on the back about fees and such. I didn't sign up for this. What a POS thing to do and how many people (like in your video) cut it up thinking it wasn't legit and a scam.? I know my elderly parents would have. I thank you for your video!

When activating, why does it ask for the last six digits of your SSN? First time I have ever seen that! Stupid me did it though because everything else checked out! Kind of scary! Now I'm paranoid! This is a bad Idea people don't have time to be guarding their mail box. Every homie in town will be looting them direct deposit is the best way .

It basically is a scam when you look at the paperwork closely. When you are supposed to receive only $600 but you get a card for a limit of $9,999.99 and can take out up to $2500 a day and a month (the statement was very contradictory) and will have fees. That is a scam. If not direct deposit or check then the credit card should only be for the allotted amount and nothing more.

I found it frustrating when I saw these because it looks like a credit card offer,…which is slavery and a trap.
I got mine earlier this year before the stimulus approval and I have shredded it because it looked suspicious! Btw, the emblem of the IRS and of the Treasury anyone can fake it!
What they should have done is to send out stimulus checks only! Not to spend more of taxpayer's money to help their preferred bank with new accounts! This credit/debit card process is costly to the Taxpayers!
