When it comes to my credit card rewards, I use cash back credit cards for my credit card rewards. And in a time when travel isn’t happening, I have built up quite a bit of cash back. Now instead of letting it sit in a savings account earning about 0%, I decided to risk my money in the stock market.

I am doing the same thing with my cash back.
The real reason: * Stonks Only Go Up! *
As an aside Apple has 850 engineers working just on iPhone cameras as you well know. The ecosystem is great at locking consumers in and it’s fantastic.
As an aside my dad did this with inflation indexed t-Bonds in 2001 when Amex Blue Cash first came out (you could buy gov. bonds w/ credit card no fee then). they don’t sell these anymore and they mature in 2031.
Sick shirt! Great video!
How will this work with taxes? Are you going to leave this alone for a year? Will dealing with the short term capital gains rate be worth it?
I'm also using the iphone 8 right now… so I'm definitely getting the 12 soon. Make sure you are using your YouTube income to purchase and then it's a business expense to help avoid paying taxes on your YouTube income for this year.
Great minds think alike! I used about 220k Chase Ultimate Rewards Points that I've had for some time. With the promo it was a bit over $3300 invested in $AAPL between June and July. 🙂
I just posted something similar to the premise of this video in Brian Jung's facebook group. I had some extra MR points and due to various and obvious limitations on travel decides to use my Schwab Platinum to invest in VTI. I figure with other flexible currencies at the ready and time to rebuild my MR points, it was a good time to let the cash value of the MR points grow in the market versus sitting around doing nothing. Great video.
You should set a target for when you will take profit.
Wow pretty strong cash rewards stock. T-mobile checking account guaranteed 4% up to $3000 is solid for the super safe option. For the scared money out there 😉
I like your thought process of growing your rewards while you can’t travel. Especially UR where 1.5c cash out is already very strong. Love the shirt
I own VTI as well. I mix it with QQQ since QQQ is tech heavy and can move faster. As for tech I own about 60 shares of AAPL but even more of MSFT.
Let those apple shares sit for 10 years
Very nice Dustin and solid investment as well (Apple investor myself). I think you’re right that Apple will continue to increase. Their stock has served me well since 2000 shortly after Jobs returned to Apple.
For those on the bubble I will say this, approach the stock market with a bit of education. While I’ve had tremendous success with Apple I have also lost A LOT in other places that just didn’t shake out as I or other great minded analyst thought it would. Proceed with caution unless you’re in it for the long game.
My big issue with apple is that their design has gone to crap… Air pods basically look like sperm dangling out the ear. The entire notch on phones is annoying. It sucks because I'm actually a big apple fan and have MacBook myself and used to have iphone just hope they can change their designs. Nevertheless Apple stock is a solid bet no doubt
What do you think about using the Apple Card to take advantage of their new 0% APR monthly installments on the majority of their products? It’s nice that you also earn 3x rewards (because you usually have to pick either the financing or the rewards). And, of course, I’m talking about using this financing option responsibly (i.e., where you would already have the money in the bank to cover the cost).
How long do you think you would hold any of these individual stocks/shares before selling? The shorter the more risky!
Thank you for thinking very carefully about your family’s health with respect to traveling! ❤️
"So I'm close to owning all of Apple"
Don't forget your friends! 😁
Have you looked into investing in Bitcoin and other Crypto currencies?
Is that a rash guard? Do you train bjj?
I got the Charles SCHWAB platinum card so i can get 1.25 redemption on my amex points, and i invest into VOO
Remind me of Atrain from “The Boys” Amazon prime movie series. Awesome shirt
at some point you can’t separate personal finance from travel rewards. 💰 is 💰 no matter how you divide it up.
I have been buying crypto and SWPPX with my cashback
That iPhone 12 5’4 inches is going to sell like cupcakes ~~ I am trading in my iPhone 11 256gb I find too bulky in my pocket.
I’ve just been putting my cash back and SUBs in a S&P index ETF (VOO). It has gone well so far and if it doesn’t I won’t miss it.
Great idea. IMO, travel for fun is great, but I can’t afford to do that yet. Usually I cash out all my points to savings and from there, I invest what I can.
YAAAAAAAASSSSSSS!!! D is rockin the Captain America shirt <3
We just gotta get u the shield.
3:23 #TEAMAPPLE FOR THE WIN!!!
I want to see dividend stocks videos
Great minds think alike, I'm into funds and ETFs also. I was lucky enough to invest heavily in the market since April and seen an $80K gain bc of the COVID-19 dip, but it's all for retirement. I started with Schwab, but Fidelity has more zero funds and an HSA option that Schwab doesn't, that's why I transferred. No, I didn't cash out my 200K MR point either for the same reason. I don't have the VTI fund, but I got the fidelity FZROX equivalent. Apple is in all my half my funds, of which I buy $200/week, so I am going to "try" to stay disciplined with that.
Video on stocks please
Awesome shirt! I think this is a good idea considering what you said about accounts having a low apy right now. We plan on starting our Roth IRA this month! Good luck Dustin! Take care and stay safe!
I didn’t invest my rewards in the stock market but I did invest my excess student loan in Apple when they split as well 😬. I just started NP school and received an extra $7000. I know that I could have declined the excess but I figured if I invest in Apple maybe the returns in the future can be enough to pay for not only the excess but what I actually borrowed for school🤞. Come on iPhone 12!!!
My cash back / investing setup consists of 1) BofA/Merrill Lynch (Platinum Honors) with the Cash Rewards at 5.25% back on online shopping (up to $1500 spend per quarter) and Premium Rewards (3.5% on food and travel, 2.625% on everything else) and 2) Amex / Schwab with the Amex Gold card (4x on restaurants and supermarkets) and the Invest with Rewards redemption via the Schwab branded Amex Platinum card which provides a 1.25x cash back redemption.
Have been investing in QYLD as a covered call options income ETF setup with a decent yield.
I'd be interested in your take on dividend stocks
What kind of microphone is visible in this video? I clicked on your microphone link below but all that directs me is to a small portable mic. I really like the look of the mic in front of you and would like to know what it is. Thanks!
Lawlz, dude, this is like the worse time to buy in.
China is trying to completely decouple from the US. Electronics in general, in the US, is going to get ravaged.
Stocks aren't that high risk though. Especially in a spy stock.
I own 530 shares of Apple, never trade it! Keep buying!
I think you might of been safer buying some 1-2 corporate bonds. Yeah your looking at 4-5% but that's not terrible
How did you cash out chase points with pay yourself back? You can only redeem for groceries and food right now right?
