Edit: damn.. just missed it. Second!!
Great video! I just wanted to let you know that after watching you for a while now you have convinced me to start my YouTube and start applying or credit cards and take it more seriously ♥️
IMO, this card is not meant for points and mile enthusiasts. It’s for high spenders who want to dip their toes into travel rewards and want the simplicity of one travel card for all their spend. These people also will not look at the minutiae of return on spend or opportunity cost, but will focus on the 100k number.
I am looking forward to the new adverts for this because we know Capital One will market the heck out of this card and offer.
It's too bad CapOne is usually strict with approvals for people with thick and solid credit profiles. …and they pull from three bureaus 🙁
I'd go for it if they were more leniant with approvals and didn't pull from three bureaus. I can put in the spend, but I imagine most would just be better off with other cards for multiple SUBs and benefits. Those who don't want to sign up for many cards and high spenders who don't have many cards can win here though
Capital One is absolutely terrible for points & miles since the transfer partners have awful rates 😂 This card is only good for high spenders who just want to top off their point balances and/or exceed the 5/24 rule from Chase
I like it!
Thanks!
Nothing against Capital One; I've had the Venture for over 9 years (before moving on to Chase & Amex last year) and I have a high-yield savings with them, but for $20,000 at this very moment, you can get:
Sapphire Preferred ($4,000/80K UR Points)
Freedom Flex ($500/20K UR Points)
Freedom Unlimited ($500/20K UR Points)
Ink Cash ($3,000/50K UR Points)
Ink Unlimited ($3,000/50K UR Points)
World of Hyatt ($6,000/50K Hyatt Points)
IHG Premier ($3,000/125K IHG Points)
**TOTAL: $20,000 for 220K UR pts, 50K Hyatt pts & 125K IHG pts 😂
OR IF CHASE BIZ CARDS WERE STILL TIGHTENED:
Sapphire Preferred ($4,000/80K UR Points)
Freedom Flex ($500/20K UR Points)
Freedom Unlimited ($500/20K UR Points)
World of Hyatt ($6,000/50K Hyatt Points)
IHG Premier ($3,000/125K IHG Points)
Gold ($4,000/60K MR Points)
Green ($2,000/50K MR Points)
**TOTAL: $20,000 for 120K UR pts, 110K MR pts, 50K Hyatt pts & 125 IHG pts 😂
Honestly, I can only see two situations where going for the second tier would be good:
1. If you're spend is so high that this won't impact your ability to get more bonuses; or
2. If you can't/don't want to apply for any new cards for a while. For example, if you're gardening or waiting to fall under 5/24 then getting a guaranteed 5x on all purchases isn't bad.
7% on the first $20,000. Maybe 10% if you transfer at a good value. I would lose out on other bonuses too. I have the capitalone verture. I got the AF waived this year (year 2) or I was going to downgrade it.
$55/day!
I wouldn’t touch crapital one if it had a 200K signup bonus.
I would love a credit card company to do some crazy spend / high bonus card. Something like 25k year spend for 250k points.
Hard pass for me haha good video!
Waller check this out. Emirates has partnered up with Barclay to give U.S CC users this product.

The Venture is a niche customer for a couple variables.
1) One who is passed Chase 5/24, and max all the Amex offers
2) One who will have big spends in the next year
3) One who doesn't want multiple cards, and/or doesn't want many hard pulls by opening several cards.
I saw a similar offer with the Alaska card that also requires a lot of spending for the second near over 6 months. What do you think Dustin?
I think these offers are good for someone who have few card SUBs left to go for. If still lots of options and willing to open more cards, then that would be the better return for the $$$ spent
Anything I don't put on my Gold goes on my Delta Reserve. I may lose out on some MRs, but I value my Delta Platinum status so I'll keep accruing those MQMs from the spend.
ABSOLUTELY Not worth it even if Capitol One offers 36 months to spend $20K for the 100K bonus.
Crapital One, no way. This card, also no way. And Chase points are waaaaay more valuable for way less. Big Difference. Chase give 5X back on groceries for a year, with a cap but no minimum. This second tier is all or none. Big loss if you miss the target.
UR and MR are where is at for me. I'm considering the Altitude Reserve as a catch all mobile wallet for random stuff. I have no desire to go into Thank You points or other currencies like CapOne. There is only so much spend we can all do without dabling into manufacturing spend.
But if I am a reseller that needs many virtual cards to buy multiples of highly coveted item and I have a healthy and large cash flow every month with a good turn around period?
This card is the dream, as I believe Cap one this time would give out a high credit limit compared to fucking QS one bucket fucking card.
Too high a spend. Would rather have 50k for 3k spend
Great job Waller. I am a little confused by the banks, they're tightening up restrictions to get CCs and at the same time throw out all these increased bonuses. These "wow factors" bonuses are more likely to attach people who aren't as savvy in paying off their CC bills so in that case why attract them? maybe there is a formula based on late fees, I don't know.
I could see myself calculating for the 50K, but no way am I tying up $17K in one CC for $50K miles/points.
you could earn almost the same money if you apply for a BoFA Trifecta spending only 5K
i could hit that $20k in spend, but i dont want to be locked into 1 card for that long.
I liked this breakdown of the sign up bonus, but this will be a no from me. I can't commit $20,000 to one card. Take care Dustin and keep the family safe!
Great analysis, as always!
issa no for me
IM in deep with CHASE trifecta+, I’ve maxed out all bonuses I could qualify. The primary reason why I find this bonus so appealing is because it’s just 1 card! Literally getting my wife to remember which chase card to use where, is waaaaaaay to complicated, and I’m sure we’ve lost out on points because of it. So just having 1 card for her to use and get 5X back is great for our use case. So my setup for 2021 is Capitol One Venture and Business Prime AMEX which gives us 5% back on everything amazon. SO all in all its 5% for everything for the whole year! For our spend that’s 2500$ not including the 1000$ from Venture bonus, or 125$ from Amazon.
Something too, if you happen to be a high spender, suppose you hit 20,000$ spend in 6 months, and you get the 100k bonus…much faster. Which is what we are aiming for. I’m waiting for AMEX to offer a huge bonus on Gold or Platinum.
Unless your fliping houses, use the money to invest, not spend 🙂
I'm looking at this bonus for a year in Europe. No foreign transaction fees and 100k for a year spend.
Might be the perfect Eurotrip/Expat card.
Can get Amex Business Platinum and get 125k points for $15,000 spend and get 1.5% return on large purchases giving 147,500 Amex points transferring out for 250k+ Amex points. Considering ANA Around the World in First Class for 450k points gets you over halfway there for $5k less spend.
Had card 2 weeks already have 56,700 miles. 6700 earned & 50,000 given bc I spent 3k(Italian vacation) need to only spend $1416 per month over next 11 months to get another 50k(in addition to the 15k miles ill self earn). Spending 1416 a month is easy
