CA government passes law requiring Uber and Lyft to classify their employees as employees
Uber/Lyft: “Waaaahhhh I’m taking my ball and going home”
Thumb up, done , early today
Could you use the Southwest convert to points to hit the Companion Pass? Would be a few thousand shy, but if I could spend a bit on Southwest and convert to points, that would get me over the mark.
Got approved for the preferred yesterday!
I hope everyone here doesn’t get a payday loan. Just borrow from a bank or credit union. It is so much cheaper
Freaking loan sharks they’re out to just eat people that don’t have any money. We all know it is the people who struggle with making the monthly payments or taking care of the monthly bills or going out once a month so they don’t feel like a prisoner; they are the people that are going to use these loans and it takes it advantage of them. Why can’t someone come out with a product that is a good product and it doesn’t take advantage of people and they still make a profit? I do not understand. 🙁🤬
Did it, but no way amex won’t clawback my 100 dollar southwest incidental in a year or two considering my ticket information is on there lol
Uber and Lyft can't survive if they leave California, so I don't think it will happen
Stopped using Cash App when they made the coffee $1 discount more and more difficult to use. It’s passed it’s heyday for me. When they had unlimited $1 discount on coffee shop, and pairing AMZN Prime with their 10% discount at WholeFood… man, that deal was so good, I almost felt guilty every time I used it!
what's the highest bonus offer you have seen from the gold card on their website Sebby? I know people were targeted via mail for 70k bonus offer, but specifically on the website is the 60k bonus the highest you've seen?
Got my first AmEx card yesterday when a 75K $4K w/i 90d offer showed up in CardMatch. Have been checking/waiting for the 100-125 Platinum, but with no travel being what it is, this seemed too good to pass on.
I’ve been seriously thinking of leaving California due to all the over regulation driving up cost of living.
Hey Sebby, you could possibly make a video regarding the recent confusion pertaining to Chase credit cards on Reddit? It looks like you have to be a US Citizen / permanent resident from now on for Chase to issue credit? If this is the case, many Chase cards are no longer applicable to those not a citizen/permanent resident
and want to start building their credit history. Source: https://www.reddit.com/r/CreditCards/comments/i7up6w/chase_limiting_credit_cards_to_us_citizens_and/
Just got the 75K MR offer from AMEX. I spend $300-500 monthly and it'd require me to spend ~$700 per month for the next six months to get this offer. Should I go for it?
Too bad for consumers in California that could get a good ride cheap and not pay a taxi $40 for a $8 Lyft ride. Too bad for gig drivers who like being their own bosses. I do similar work with Rover on the side and love being my own boss.
Was quite surprised to get the 75K/$4k/6mo offer for Amex Gold (not through CardMatch; they gave me same point and minimum offer but for 3 months). Applied yesterday. Approved. And got the physical card today.
Is it normal for Amex to overnight the card without requesting it?
Found the 60k offer through incognito and I got the dreaded pop-up. No idea why either. Run my two cards (EDP & BBP) for 40+ transactions each, pay everything off, never cancelled a card. Sad day
I actually have a small portfolio of micro loans that is still unwinding. Although the return I’m getting on that is well below the APR of the Cash App’s program (since the loans in my portfolio were a few hundred dollars over a few years, averaging like 16% return APY), I still think it serves an important role. If the cash is used for true pinches, it can be an important access to immediate capital. Right now is a very challenging time for people who might be in and out of jobs, and although that APR sounds brutal, being evicted because you’re short $100 is far more disruptive than 4%. A better solution would be to have better community liquidity to help people deal with these brief challenges, and Cash App is a great intermediary for that to flow. I hope that in the future they can reduce the APR by somehow allowing communities to better function as banks within themselves (a super quick and accessible credit union).
I'm noticing that all of these payment apps are now getting into lending. I am a little weary of easy lending with high interest rates, both for the borrow and for the lender. I have seen various fintech's offering loans without a credit check! I have a small investment in Square and am thinking of selling out as this banking business really takes off. It could eat them alive in loan losses. Paypal appears to be more conservative, but they are also getting into lending. Does anyone ever keep a balance in their venmo, paypal, or cash app account? I cash mine out to my bank immediately. I cannot imagine them making money on loans when they only have collateral for a couple of days tops.
Thank you
I got an Amex gold 75k offer. Never had an Amex before…. too bad we’re going through a refi though 😖😖😖
Great video
I would be ok with a personal platinum Dell credit.
Amex gold offer can be up to 75k. check credit shifus video my comment is pinned and goes into more detail
ohhhh snap,,,,,that's the button I should be hitting…..ooops for the past two years.
I got 60k on Gold and 70k on Platinum. But I just got the freedom unlimited and also I am still under 5/24. So I may pass on the offer
Saw the 60K referral bonus and 30k for the referrer 🙂 I referred the wife and I get 30k, highest offer i've seen. It's great if you have a P2.
Borrowing from Grain seems like a much better deal if they approve you or you can do the secured version. 12% APR and a grace period.
People who actively use Cashapp are probably not financially stable. #ChangeMyMind
I don’t understand the Southwest conversion. R u saying we can book a flight with southwest and cancel it then convert to points for our use for the 100 Amex gold credit ? Also, yes I think square is scamming people with the misleading 5% loan
I am not currently an AMEX customer and I got the offer on their site, while looking at the gold card.
Was able to snag the 75k AMEX Gold SUB! For $4000 in charges over the next SIX MONTHS.
Agreed that the Uber / Uber Eats credit is strongly associated w/ the Amex Platinum Card now. I love it for a lunch every month, but wouldn't mind seeing it be replaced by something more widely useable.
People who can't control their spending and pay on time deserves what they get. I ain't going to feel sorry for them
At least the cash app offer is capped at $200. Many payday loan places will do up to 1000 or more based on monthly pay.
Can always count on seb to #dothemath
Wish I could've gotten the 75k offer with my gold card but my offer kind of balanced out (also, this was back in October 2019) I got 50k with $1000 spend in 3months…I thought I was seeing things.
I have the chase Amazon Prime Visa … no offer for me!!!! 🙁 C'mon, Chase!!!!
For the future, can you elaborate pieces such as AB 5? A quick Google search was good, but having a quick spiel on what those types of things are would be helpful!
If I was Uber or Lyft, I’ll dipped out from California if they are literally trying to change my business model
75k/4k/6mo offer is on prequalify page of Amex, worth checking if you are targeted
Currently at 2/24 for Chase cards with Freedom and Freedom unlimited, I was gonna apply for Chase Sapphire Preferred in a few months, but now with the new Amex gold 75k bonus, I was thinking of applying and just putting more time b/w applications…thoughts?
So, if Uber and Lyft both leave California on August 20th, then you don't have uber eats because it runs on the same platform. That said, Uber and Lyft are not going to leave their largest money-making market, which is California. I feel that Uber and Lyft might go with a third party system like the one Amazon uses for the Amazon Flex platform. Where drivers sign up, use their own vehicles, and select blocks of hours to drive people around at a set price.
Thanks for that explanation of that Cash App feature. A lot of people would see that 5% rate and immediately think that it’s a good deal (my immediate thought was that 5% on a loan of $200 for four weeks is still too much money, especially since you wouldn’t pay any interest if you used a credit card and paid it off within the same amount of time, but I’m assuming that most of the people in their target market don’t have access to credit cards).
Mr. Sebby, can I ask roughly how many Yotta tickets you have this week? If you have 7,578 tickets with one matching number, you must have tens of thousands of tickets overall.
looks like oxygen bank is offering a line of credit on a debit card also with monthly fees
Got the 75k/$4k/6mo as well yesterday. Went private on safari and searched Amex prequalify and put in my info. Got prequalified for the offer. Cheers for great offers!
You would think Califonia would learn? Apparently they have to lose every major corporation from their state to realize their poor decisions…
No Chase Amazon offer for me… I only use the card for Amazon purchases, so maybe that's the problem.
