NEW Chase ADDS GROCERY To Chase Sapphire Reserve AND Sapphire Preferred – Waller’s Wallet

by YouTube Team

Chase has finally added a grocery multiplier to the Chase Sapphire Reserve and Sapphire Preferred. But while earning Ultimate Reward points for grocery spend, is this enough for Chase travel credit cards. Especially considering their offers on the Chase Freedom Flex and Chase Freedom Unlimited. Plus other offers like the Amex Gold, or Citi Premier?

This is why I like your credit card channel. Clear, concise, always on topic.

I can tell that you were trained as a pharmD 😆

Would be good to start looking at those cards from an ecosystem point of view. Like running some sort of simulations to see which ones offer the best benefits on a 6 month period.

I think the Reserve can get away with temp. bonuses to everyday spend since it is their top travel card. The Preferred is the red headed step child of the line-up and needs complete overhaul. Personally would love to see them steal the Blue Cash Preferred's categories (I'd accept 5x instead of 6x), keep the 1.25 multiplier and AF. That'd bring alot of new customers and would be big point earner for team Chase.

It's not bad, but Chase should add a permanent gas and grocery category to their cards. For me and anyone who recently got the CF, CFU, or CFF cards, this announcement does nothing since they have 5% on groceries in the first year. I would consider switching to the CSP for groceries when the bonus on my CFU ends, but this ends before I hit the 1 year anniversary on the CFU.

Sticking with Gold. The only thing that would entice me to the Chase Ecosystem, would be a "Chase Ink Reserve".

Mediocre update and isn’t really good for comparable cards…

That additional 3x AmEx referral bonus is a pretty nice nod to current card holders since most good bonuses are usually geared at attracting new card members.

Chase is throwing everything at customers in hopes to retain them. 3x doesn't beat 5x UR points. 3x UR doesn't beat 4x MR points.

This is perfect for me because I’m in Europe 10 out 12 months a year. No FTF and this moves CSR into my everyday card!

If Chase really wanted to Compete with The Amex Gold Card, The Chase Sapphire Reserve should have 4X on Groceries and The Chase Sapphire Preferred 3X on Groceries!!!

This temporary bonus in the grocery category for the sapphire lineup changes my strategy. If P2 can get approved for the preferred, I'll take that 2x on groceries in addition to the 80k SUB

We need a gas and internet/ cell phone category LOL. At minimum, the chase ecosystem needs to beat out the Amex BCP, and be competitive with the Amex MR system. I’m adding the CFU to my lists to buff up my CSP (and I use drugstores a lot haha), but I’m still keeping my Amex Gold for groceries and restaurants. Even the CITI PREMIER out earns the CSP :/

I just got the CSP a couple of days ago. Would you happen to know if the 2X on groceries is eligible for new cardholders as well? Or is it only for people who previously had the card before this announcement? I have cards that offer more for groceries. However it would be good to know in case I need help hitting my 80,000 point SUB.
