Def gonna get the hyatt card sooner or later, been eyeing a family vacay in Maui since before covid, now with child #2 coming any day, prob will time that card for a Hawaii 2022 trip. Just picked up the Hilton no AF card (player 2) to secure my amex referral bonus, so Marriott gonna be last on my hotel list at this stage. Thanks for the helpful info Dustin!! 😁

Hyatt’s service is definitely more consistent. I’ve noticed that the in-person service at Marriott’s extended stay properties like Residence is definitely much better than their flagship brands.

Hyatt 100%. TSU is way better than SNA. Hyatt runs better promos throughout the year. Globalist is a way better top tier status than Ambassador.
If I can find a Hyatt property I’ll look to stay there first

Due to current pandemic, lot of services have changed like Hyatt's signature continental Breakfast and In House Dining.
However, I'm still a Hyatt fan, and find Hyatt points far more valuable, than IHG and Marriott.

Hyatt is better in my opinion. And when transferring ultimate rewards points you can get more out of them. The downside is the amount of properties and the status you get from getting the Hyatt Credit card. But if I had to go with one I'm going with Hyatt.

Dustin, I don’t even need to watch this video (but I am) to know what the answer is going to be. Hahahahaha. 🤣😂. I’ll add another comment labeled “color me shocked” if you say Marriott is better (which we know it is). LOL!!!!

As a person who consistently spends 100+ nights per year with Marriott I have never had a bad experience with them. All of these folks having terrible customer service calls I ask, what the heck are you calling them for that you can’t handle online? Missing points? I don’t get it.

If one is to be honest, the hate that Marriott gets comes from folks who just can’t accept that SPG is DEAD! I loved SPG just like everyone else, but they’re gone…never coming back. I liked their program a lot, it offered more value but mergers happen all the time. SPG was smaller than Marriott so the touch was a bit more personal for sure, but it’s done…and beating that dead horse is a waste of time. We get it, Marriott isn’t SPG, never will be…accept it or jump ship to another loyalty program but constantly whining as if the SPG feel is going to come back is just as useless as me whining that I’m tired of dealing with Covid.

Marriott isn’t perfect but they certainly aren’t (in my experience) as horrible as everyone makes them out to be.

Don’t have much experience with either program. I like Hyatt as a good use of UR points when I can find one where I’m traveling. Great info as always Dustin.

Hilton ecosystem in my opinion is hands down the best. Recently finished my Trifecta with the aspire. First experience with platinum status, I booked a basic 2 queen room at a Hilton, and got upgraded for just calling and asking!

I called the day before checkin, they got me a 2 queen suite. Called again the next morning, there was a no call no show for a 2 king suite. They instantly gave it to me just for asking for availability. From my limited experience with platinum status, they really have treated me great. Its a bit costly for the annual fee, but considering the really good 6 hour trip delay cost insurance (many cards are only 12), and excellent trip cancelation coverage for flights, this is on par with the reserve and platinum in terms of flight coverage.

Sticking to hilton, surpass/aspire are switched around for my daily spenders in terms of gas/restaurants/groceries, easy way to rack up points for what could very well be a budget stay turned into a deluxe suite. Downgrade paths are really good as well as long as you play by amex's rules, dont want to be on their bad list for canceling cards early .

Personally for me, Marriott. Yes, Hyatt points are worth more. Yes, they're high end properties require less points. But all that means nothing if they don't have high end properties or even mid properties where I'm traveling too. You can't beat the simple fact Marriott has way more properties in every range around the world 🙂

Marriott points are good for transferring to airlines like Alaska for high end partner redemptions. I agree that Marriott customer service is bad and emphasized more when compared to old SPG. Hyatt is more consistent with elite recognition and more value in their overall program. I like the Hyatt vibe compared to what Marriott has become post SPG.

I'm hoping Hyatt will release a premium credit card down the line. Something hopefully mirroring the Aspire card.

Why would this be of interest? Airlines closed, hotels closed, travel restricted – should have asked this a few years ago….

I really like Hilton due to the Aspire giving diamond status, and the free nights are good for any property, plus the points redemptions get 5th night free on bookings

Reply
Samuel Sze November 12, 2020 - 6:52 pm

Can you do a review of the Wyndham Rewards program? They have a new Business card that seems interesting… It automatically gives diamond status, and has some really nice spend categories, like 8x on on gas, and 5x on utilities…

Marriott points frustrate me,I stay at Marriott and Hyatt get the same number of points, but a cheap Hyatt is 5 or 8K but a cheap Marriott is 20K or 25K and Marriott app sucks always logging me out for no reason.

One reward not mentioned is partner programs. Hyatt status can transfer over to M Life. An explorist or globalist with Hyatt means gold status with MGM Resorts

Why is the promotion considered a promotion for American Airlines when you only earn one point back per dollar? That’s literally like everything else that you spend with the card.

folks who take the marriott over Hyatt either earn well over $100k a year or either just plan stupid and worships Amex insanely high annual fees.

I've been loyal to Marriot for over 5 years and so was my husband. This year we realized how valuable the points at Hyatt are and also the difference in service. We are definitely going to prioritize booking with Hyatt first and then Marriot.

I like ALL from Accor hotels group. Marriott and Hyatt are both based out of America they have more presence in the American continent and miss out on some off beaten tracks in Europe and Asia, ALL is European and hence has a better presence on some little known destinations.
