NEW Capital One LOUNGES and 1:1 TRANSFER PARTNERS – The Credit Shifu

Hey Credit Warriors, welcome to the show and we have some exciting news about Capital One, so kick off the dog and pony show, Oh there is actually a dog and pony show. Well anyway Capital One is bringing in 4 new loyalty programs for points transfer, some partners will transfer at 1:1 and they are opening two airport lounges. Ok I understand the dog and pony show now. So first we will go through the new transfer partners and then we will look at the airport lounges and we do have pictures of what they will look like so stick around for that.

So Capital One is adding 4 new transfer partners: British Airways, Choice Hotels , TAP Air Portugal and Turkish Airlines. The airlines are live for transfer now and Choice Hotels will be coming later this year.

Now in addition to this, there will now be some loyalty programs where miles transfer out at 1:1. So if you don’t know most Capital One transfer partners, transfer out at 2:1.5. So the Venture card for example which earns 2x on everything, really is only earning 1.5x if you transfer to airlines. But new there is what Capital One is calling a new 1:1 transfer tier. These loyalty programs are:
Avianca (LifeMiles), Etihad (Etihad Guest), Asia Miles, AeroMexico (Club Premier), Finnair (Finnair Plus), Qantas (Qantas Frequent Flyer) and Wyndham Rewards.

So this really increases the value of point earning on the Capital One Venture and Capital One Spark Miles cards. And if you have one of those cards you can open up your account and you will find you can transfer in all the ways we just talked about.

Now before we talk about airport lounges, if you want to keep track of how many miles you are earning across multiple cards all in one place. I recommend the app MaxRewards, I can have my balances, utilization and even points balances in one place. You can also change the values of points depending on how you use them. So if you plan to use them in a 1:1 transfer partner, the points will obviously be worth more to you. Then the app will tell you which cards in your wallet to use at different merchants to get the best rewards rate. Alright so there are two Capital One Airport lounges coming. One will open at Dallas Fort Worth this summer and the other, at Dulles International Airport in DC will open in 2022. Capital One describes these lounges as an oasis of calm where you can work, work out, recharge and a whole lot more. Yeah I’m sure Amex says that about the Centurion lounge and then they have to roll back access because of crowding. So we will see.

But anyway, here is a list of all the amenities and then I’ll show you some photos. The lounges will feature:

Alright here is a rendering of the entrance to one of the lounges. Pretty cool looking, here is another one of a sofa area with two people talking, questionable art on the wall. Then we have another one with some kids sitting at a table and this what looks like a dining area with a bar in the background.

No with these it is really hard to tell what the quality of the decoration will be like, since they have chosen this style of water color painting or something. I would be interested to see some actual 3D renderings.
