Let’s call it a story, about why Facebook, which was recently voted worst company of 2021 in a Yahoo finance survey
Really is the worst company out there, and I am going to tell you the story that has led me to really thing about whether I want to use Facebook at all. So you guys may not know but before this channel I did several other YouTube channels, with Chinese themes, my main channel is Lao Wai Kan Zhongguo or a Foreigners view of China, with over 700k subscribers and then there is learn Chinese now, where I teach Chinese, with over 100k subscribers. Here is my YouTube plaque for that channel.
Now these two channels had accompanying facebook pages and I also had my own fan page just in my own name which had over 200k followers in Facebook. So in total we were looking at over 400k followers across a few pages including Credit Shifu’s Facebook page. Two of these pages were verified with blue check marks.

Lol I haven’t been on since I deactivated in April of 2013. I was getting my masters degree and thought I honestly would waste time and energy that I could have used studying. Never looked back and yes I have my masters lol! Sorry to hear about this frustration- 🤦🏻♀️
Facebook serves the purpose of logging into crap I don’t want to share my real info with. I have a dummy account with them for that purpose alone.
Why does anyone even use fb anymore? They've been obsolete for years, plus their track record with privacy and using people's data is very unsettling.
Twitter and Facebook are both terrible. Instagram is the least terrible of the major social medias. Still terrible tho.

Hi Ben! Sorry to hear this happened. It's likely a state sponsored attack since you said yourself, that your page contained some "strong views" – the CCP recruits vast numbers of people to troll, submit fake reports and take over accounts whereever possible, especially those who are critical of the party. They obviously know how to exploit the (many) weaknesses in FB security and its unfortunate that your page became a victim as well. It's likey they are harvesting data on your "followers" and "friends" to see if there is anyone based in the mainland or HK they can "visit" — Its a bloody shame that a multi trillion dollar company has F*K all for customer service, even for verified pages. Hope you get your page back soon…thank you for all the good content you produce.

A facebook comedian named Katie Wilson had her account hacked and all the money in that account was stolen. Facebook told her they couldn't do anything about it.
I'm honestly surprised at how "normal" you appear to be, even making jokes and stuff. I'd be furious, legit ranting about what a disgusting company this is. Losing so many years of hard work just like that and being this chill is impressive. Great composure.

I quit Facebook about 10 or so years ago. As you noted, happy with the decision and less stress. I do recall – a year or so ago, when you asked your YouTube members what platform to use for collaboration, etc. I replied, please not Facebook. Your response was how about Discord? Hopefully something new will come of this😀for you and your followers. It's a sucky feeling.
Another great point you made, the interpretation of something typed vs. said. That problem is very common and hard to get away from.

You realized you had probably been phished, had given you Facebook credentials to crooks and you just said "oh well" and went on with your day? Why didn't you change your password?!?!?!?! I get that Facebook support sucks, but this one is on you unfortunately. You were phished, knew you were phished on a very important/sensitive page and you did nothing about it. This is like taking your hands off the steering wheel while keeping your foot on the accelerator and getting upset with Honda that emergency brake mechanism didn't kick in when it was clear you were going to hit another car. I love your content, been a fan for years. But this one is 100% on you.

You didn’t get hacked. You got phished. Facebook’s lack of customer service or helpfulness definitely a big issue though.

Wow, what a nightmare! Sorry this happened Ben! Meta/Facebook is absolute trash in my opinion, and I deleted mine back in 2012. I've never looked back since, and have been much happier for it!
Left FB roughly 7 years ago and still see no use in reactivating my account and deleting it. I’ve been managing my time much better since I cut out a lot of social media back then.

Seems wrong and sounds like yet another disastrous data breach scandal waiting to happen.
Here's something dumb that happened to me:
An account that was clearly "cat-phishing" added me as a "friend." I promptly blocked and reported. I got a message back from FB's robots essentially saying: "nah bruh, this account's legit."
I hardly ever check FB anymore. It's more of a personal phone book to me more than anything.
