Great comparison video! I had been debating on these 2 cards for a while, I decided to go with the Green Card last month (with the 45k/$2k spend offer), and I've been happy with it so far since Dining and Travel are 2 of my biggest spend categories. I've also been able to redeem quite a few Amex Offers this month as well.

Dont you think the $100 clear credit it awkward? I really love Clear and wish they gave the full credit on the AMEX Platinum or allowed the airline fee credit to cover Clear. But giving $100 credit for a $179 program is just awkward, especially as the only credit. What do you think?

I am having tough time deciding whether to get Citi Double cash or the propel. I already have Amex Blue Cash Preferred and PayPal MasterCard 2%. My FICO is score is 726 with 11 months of credit history. What would be easier to get or more lenient the Propel or Citi Double cash? Thanks

Great comparison. For me the Green is the better card… with Amex transfer partners and transfer bonuses you can end up with good redemptions… even for economy

There is a 50% boost in point when using the Propel Card by transfering it to a Wells Fargo Signature Card! So essenntially 4.5x!!!

With all the changes and devalued currency of points right now, I think it would be great if you could do a Chase vs Amex updated comparison right now!

I am a very loyal, long time AmEx user. And I despise Wells Fargo. However, if that were not the case, the Wells Fargo Propel trifecta wins hands down, beating Chase and Citi easily. Their portal rivals Chase. Fortunately, my AmEx trifecta is all cash back and the 6x for groceries beats Wells.

Great comparison. I'm going with the Wells Fargo Propel card. I have the Gold card for dining AND groceries and I have the Bank of America Cash Rewards for the travel category and Platinum benefit. All those bonus categories at 3% or 3x, and no annual fee? Awww yeah! Take care Dustin and stay safe.

I would pick the Wells Fargo Propel card over the Amex Green Card as Cashback is always great to have on top of points. If you already have the Schwab Platinum card, then the Propel card is also better as the Green card credits overlap the Platinum Card Perks.

Green Card for me – picked up last November with 45k offer sub

Used Clear credit through Delta card almost completely free 100 dollar credit

Used the Loungebuddy credit with Wife at the Lufthansa lounge in Boston for another 100

Needed small luggage and Got 100 away credit

Now receiving phone credit for seven months 70.00

Total credits first year 370.00 for cost of 150.00

Have the Wells Fargo Card as well- like it but use mainly for offers

That Propel card looks like a great option and with no af you're not forced to spend money to get value from it

If you value MR points at $0.02 each, you'd have to spend $5,000 per year (after year 1) in the 3x categories to make the Amex Green better than Propel. (6% effective vs. 3% effective). If you take the transfer-to-Signature-Visa trick into account, then you'd have to spend $10,000 per year in those 3x categories to make the Amex Green better than Propel. (6% effective vs. 4.5% effective). So yep, like you said, it all depends on how much you value MR points and how you plan to use those points!

Hello :). I have a friend that wants to apply for business card, so I told him that he must use your portal, he wants to apply for business ink card (Chase ) he told me that he saw other Chase cards but not the ink, I was wondering if he was not searching using the category tab. Please can you confirm for me if this card is listed for him to move forward and use your portal? Sorry that I am off topic

When you go Amex Green, you just get "The Green Card". The Wells Fargo "Propel" comes with bonus companion cards, such as the Wells Fargo "Outsell", and the final nail in in some quitter's portfolio, the Wells Fargo "Farewell". You don't even have to apply for these new cards, concern yourself about their balances, Wells Fargo has you covered with a growing portfolio.

I have a cobranded Amex card and it is a no stress option compared to paying a $150 annual fee. Member reward points are only useful for large ticket items like expensive hotels or international flights. Cash back is the way to go! I do not like Wells Fargo and would choose one of Amex’s no annual fee cards like the Blue Cash Everyday card or the Delta Skymiles card.

Hey Dustin, Amex is reducing total credit cards per user from 5 to 4. Take a look at doctor of credit for details.

One of my credit cards fell off the 5/24 rule on May 15th and I applied for a chase card on May 19th. My application is currently under review. If I do happen to get denied can I call the reconsideration chase number? Do you think they might reconsider my application?

You did not mention the Wells Fargo Visa Signature Card! This card is pretty weak on its own, but pairs with the Propel card as they use the same rewards program. The Signature card offers a 1.5x multiplier on points redeemed through travel (like the CSR), which would make every category 4.5x points on the Propel.

Also you can receive Amex membership rewards points in lieu of cash back on the Ratuken travel portal.

Fantastic video! I don’t believe I’ve seen this type of comparison between these two. IMO, Green is underrated. This video convinced me to apply for Propel! I got approved, but now I stand to ask where my Green stands after year 1 :/ Love Amex, & currently carry Blue Pref., Green, Citi Double with Discover IT on rotation. Again, very insightful video w/top notch CC content!

We have complained to Wells Fargo about the color of the Propel card. It is purple and almost impossible for elderly customers to read the numbers on the back. Wells Fargo has had complaints but refuses to change its color or design. Laughingly Wells Fargo said they would send us a magnifier to read or they suggested that we write the information on a piece of paper and keep in our wallet. The CEO of Wells needs to take action. And fire the marketing team that is unresponsive to the needs of the customers.

I have the Propel, want to get a fully Amex backed card next. I’m thinking Gold or Green because I don’t want to pay that 675 fee for the platinum. Do you think the Gold is worth the Extra 100$ or I should go green and upgrade when I get the hang of the Amex network.
