A note about Hotel status that doesn't seem well explained on Amex. Yes, you get Gold status, but it ONLY helps if you book through Amex or the hotel. For example, I booked through expedia because it was , quite literally, thousands of dollars cheaper than Amex Travel. However, when you book through Expedia/Obitz etc. etc. , you don't get Gold status on the hotels (even if you paid for it with your Amex Plat.). Maybe this is well known, but I wasn't aware!

Hi Sebby, I have a family of 4. My husband and I and my 2 kids under 10 years of ages. Can my Platinum card get the priority pass for all 4 of us even though I am the only holder of my Platinum card.

I visited Guadalajara for a week in August and the Platinum Fine Hotels came in great!! We stayed 3 nights at the NH Hotel Providencia which ranks as one of the Top 10 Hotels in Guadalajara. Amazing views and with the AMEX Fine Hotel Specials we got the third night free, AND a $100 hotel credit. We then moved across town to the Hotel 1970 Posada, another Fine Hotels Member, and got the same promo, but at this location, we got the $200 credit as well, which made this hotel stay a mere $100! The $100 Hotel credit came in great for breakfast and a nightcap.

Sounds like the Amex Platinum could be seen as giving you Platinum status with Marriott automatically. If you look at FHR collection it’s high end hotels which if you achieve platinum status mid to high end hotels are within your reach. You get Late and early check out , room upgrade , free breakfast. I travel Marriott mostly that pretty much sounds like platinum status ? Plus a $100 approx credit spa/food/ bev – either I let my wife spend it at the spa on something nice for her. Or we can use it towards bar tab or bottle of champagne or Napa Cab with dinner. It sounds pretty dang close to platinum status ? Your thoughts sir ?

I have the delta platinum amex card. Only useful thing from it was global entry and companion pass each year other than that it is worthless. No lounge acess with anyone even if you have a skyteam member ticket they will not let you in.

For Hilton Gold status: note, the name on your card has to match the name on your Hilton account, including your middle initial. I was initially rejected, called Hilton, they added my middle initial, called Amex, then they re-enrolled me.

Is the $200 credit per calander year? So If i opened my Amex acount on March 2021… Can I use $200 in 2021 then another $200 in 2022 before March and then cancel my membership before I get charged the annual fee for the second year?
