Age 56 is hard to believe… Given those computer tech jobs salaries Amex is appealing to HENRYs.

If these stats are correct, the Walmart benefit seems to make no sense at all.

How do I get 2 round trip first class roundtrip tickets from US to Japan with 240K MR? I have over 240K MR. Would you use the Amex Travel Portal and use MR points to pick flights?

Bro @sebby, I would take those comp figures with a grain of salt. I’ve worked in tech for the majority of my career, with a significant portion of that career in the Bay Area or for Bay Area companies. Those comp figures that you put up are heavily influenced by bonuses(which can vary wildly depending on what company you work with), sales commissions(1 guy meeting his quote +a kicker can easily do like 10x above his peers, which can skew the comp results), equity/RSU’s(the standard on these is a 2-3 year award timeframe, so after that they typically don’t award you anymore. Also, depending on the company you work for, you could get taxed at time of award vs time of sale, which truly lowers the actual value of the RSU’s) and finally seniority(basically anybody VP/SVP and C suite make 20x on all the categories that I mentioned above, which probably skew the numbers even more).

You can definitely make really good money, but 400k for a non c suite/VP/Sales role is a little bit of a stretch.

i have 830 credit score, 20 plus years of credit, 50k revolving, never late, renter, always pay before statement cutoff date. but i only have 50k in income. i have the gold amex card for two years and have run 5k monthly bills every now and then and again paid off before statement posting date. do you think i need more income for the platinum?

Sebby question, I have the American Express Platinum Delta Skymiles card. My sister traveled internationally (forgot which area), tried to enter a Delta SkyClub lounge, and was told she could not access. She has the same card as me. She was told she can't access in because it was a USA card. So does this mean this card may not get you in, in certain international Delta SkyClub? It seems it may be selective based on which area. I was under the assumption it can be used anywhere in the world. If true I'm like what's the point to have the card if you cannot use it anywhere in the world. Unfortunate. I spoke to American Express and they are not even sure. They advise to check all the locations on Delta and call ahead of the time to see if they accept the USA card. They are thinking maybe it has to do something with Medallion level members who can access anywhere in the world. Dumb. If you can please reply if have any answers. Maybe the regular Amerian Express Platnium can be used all over the world compared to any of the American Express Delta cards including Reserve? Im a Delta fan but if this is true maybe the American Express Platnium does anywhere in the world and the better approach.

Platinum annual income surprised me. I got the business platinum and don't yet make 100k per year. Maybe I'm the unusual one haha.

I know people who have this card who make under $40,000 a year gross I know one guy who made $50,000 a year self-employed had 47,000 in business expenses that he put on his AMEX card so technically he only pays taxes on $3,000 but his income is still technically 50,000 in the eyes of Amex since they ask for gross income not adjusted gross or taxable income
