So, when will credit limits be imposed on existing accounts? I have a gold and green card. Lol,

So does this mean we can now downgrade from the Gold card to the no-annual-fee Everyday card?

I'm too late, but the Centurion LAX was the one that opened. I visited the lounge on Friday 13 March, 4 days after it opened, and it was very nice. It was also very empty, due to the virus problem. I was on my way to Paris, and I didn't even know it was open; I opened the Amex app to search for lounges, and the Centurion popped up! I was chuffed to the bollocks! I've been to the ones in Seattle and Philadelphia, but now my home airport finally has a Centurion. Of course it's closed now along with most of the airport, but by the time I'm flying again, it'll be back.

if I have 1MILLION in my bank account and I have a master card from my bank account. I can spend any amount I want. So why should I add an American Express??

They seem to have dropped that option on my green card effective 1Aug 2020. They’ve got some thing else coming out but it doesn’t look to be the same. Guess they are pulling in some exposure. My POT limit “was” 35k…I always pay early and have CS of 835 as of this posting. Looks like they and others are feeling the economy shutdown too.

That is definitely not a credit card. My gold card minimum payment last month was $1,700. I charged a total of $3,900 on there. If that would have been a credit card, the minimum payment would have been maybe $45?

you are correct, it's a Hybrid Card. Acts like a Credit Card but it reports as a Charge Card in all 3 CB

Great assessment
Still a charge card in my book until it affects your credit report equally like a credit card (which would actually be a positive thing). Not applicable to me anyways because I pay in full every month treating it like the charge card it’s designed to be! 😎😇

Most cards have a no preset spending limit which replaced the term charge card however it American Express has embedded pay overtime future to all or some of their cards it is a embedded feature it's not a charge card and it hasn't been a charge card for quite some time as long as you pay the balance in full after the statement closes every single month you will not incur any type of interest rate

Just got the Gold card with as an NPSL card with pay over time defaulted to On. I deactivated it though. Not interested in paying interest. I’d rather use the Plan It feature on my Amex BCP card.

Here’s how I see it:

if ya pay yo bill in full, you can handle a charge card

Well sh!t… If I knew they were going to force me to go to pay over time, I would have at least accepted their offer to go to it and get 10,000 points. That is ducking stupid. 🦆

does the gold or platinum card help or hurt your credit utilization ratio since there's no credit limit to increase your total available credit verse your debt?

does pay in full in Amex terms mean statement balance or total balance?

Reply
Steven Lowe July 26, 2021 - 7:05 pm

Amex removed the "Balance Details" page and you can not see your pay over time limit at all!

Just got my gold card but gave question. If available credit effects your score does a card with no limit won't benefit your overall available credit at all?
