I used Visa more more than MC due to better benefits. As an investment, MC stock gives you better return year after year.

Just a note. Worldwide usage isn't really a useful statistic. Some countries have noticeable acceptance rates for Visa over MasterCard and vice versa. You can walk into a store in Thailand often where they only accept Visa, while you're likely to walk into a shop in India which is likely to only take MC.

I think the reason the "card that cannot be named" shows bigger international acceptance is that they, ahem, "discovered" China and made a deal with China UnionPay for their transaction processing.

Yeah, and none of those cards had any rewards or status lol. It was a big enough deal that they even existed! I remember my Dad had the Trifecta of the day: Carte Blanche, Diners' Club, and American Express. Only major places – hotel chains, airlines, major car rentals, major restaurants – accepted them, so you couldn't buy a pizza or McD's, groceries, or stay in smaller motels using a card, you hadda pay cash. That's why Traveller's Cheques used to be so popular.
The one I really wish they'd bring back is Carte Blanche, with the early white, blue, and gold livery. First, I love the name – Carte Blanche means "Unrestricted power to act at one's own discretion; unconditional authority." It was a cool-looking card too. I'd want it to combine the bonus categories of the AmEx Platinum and Gold cards, with the $300 travel credit and primary car insurance of the Sapphire. Plus a minimum FICO score of, say, 740, to keep it exclusive. Man, I'd pay for that card lol.
