Hey credit warriors and we have a fun video for you today, there is a type of Credit Card called the 5% rotating category card, where you earn 5% cash back on categories that normally change, on up to a certain amount of spending per quarter. There are actually 4 of these cards that I can think of that are currently available in the US credit card market and today we are going to do a comparison video, so this is Battle of the 5% Quarterly Category Credit Cards.

So there are 4 cards we are going to look at today, we will first go through how they stack up in different aspects and then we will tell you which card is best for who. The four cards are:

Chase Freedom Flex
Discover it Cash Back
US Bank Cash+ Visa Signature
ABOC Platinum Rewards Mastercard

The first two are pretty well known then 3rd one less so, and the last one is pretty obscure. Now first of all none of these cards have an annual fee, so we will get that out the way at the start, and they all count as tier two cards in my 5 tier credit card system. Now let’s start with the welcome bonuses:

Chase Freedom Flex – $200 – $500 spend in first 90 days, 5% on $12000 grocery spend year 1
Discover it Cash Back – First year cash back match (10% on categories for first year)
US Bank Cash+ Visa Signature – $200 after $500 purchases in first 90 days (3 months)
ABOC Platinum Rewards Mastercard – $150 statement credit for $1200 spend first 3 months

Where is the Citi Dividend card? That’s the #3 behind the Freedom and Discover.

NOTE: The Citi Dividend Card is also a 5% cash back card, but is not accepting new applications now, thus I have not included it.

ABOC does not value 1 point at one penny cash back. It's a 3.75% card.

You should make a video about the invite only ollo optimum 2.5% cash back MasterCard card with no annual fee (your other ollo video didn’t include this card) I think a credit card vid about this would get you lots of views!

Unfortunately for statement credit redemption on the Aboc Platinum rewards the ratio is 1pt = 0.75¢ (3.75% cashback for 5pt categories) this is according to nerd wallet as of 9/2020. I looked on Aboc’s website and I had trouble finding there cash redemption pt to ¢ ratio. 3.75% is still decent though.

For me best reward card is Discover over Chase, you can get gift cards vale $1.25 for every $1 which you can get in chase after annual charge of $95 on Sapphire preferred card.

I am a chase freedom unlimited holder. The flex would absolutely, make more sense 2 have it in my stable. Only issue I have with chase is its a hard inquiry, upon approval. When you build up a history, with a lender I feel hard inquiries, should be waived 💯

Hi! Would monthly payments to a personal trainer and nutrition coach count on thes card? I have a personal trainer (who's also my nutrition coach). As far as I know, he's not affiliated with any gym. I pay him monthly on my current credit card (autopayments). If that's something I can earn more rewards on these cards for this … I might consider them.

Isn’t each point from ABOC .75 cents? So it’s not a 5% card, it’s a 3.75% card.
