This is currently my only hotel card, focused on building value on this and my CRPs before moving on to the next tiers!
The once in a lifetime rule is not set in stone. I had the Gold, upgraded to Platinum a few years ago to take up an offer, and switched back to Gold a couple of years later. I was still eligible for the 100k Platinum welcome offer earlier this year.
I got the 100k offer for platinum and got 6mo to hit sign up bonus, being amex gold member when going incognito!

Biz Plat has 150k offers
Do you have an idea of what point value makes sense if you don't plan to travel internationally? It seems like the Hilton cards could be really good if you can get decent value from the points, but that seems hard to do from the places I've looked at.

So this isn’t entirely true about the one time bonus per lifetime. For some reason I received the Amex platinum 100k signup bonus plus 10xs points per dollar on groceries and gas stations in the mail . I already have the Amex plat currently active. Apparently, they target specific clients depending on their spend and customer relationship is what they told me. So, I now have 2 Amex platinum. To make things even better, I was getting ready to cancel my old Amex platinum because the renewal annual fee was about to post. When I called to cancel my old card, the customer service lady told me if I keep both cards they will give me an additional 50k. I said absolutely I will keep both cards! Amex has been really impressing me lately way more than chase. Keep up the good work Sebby! And #Amex gang! 👏🏽👏🏽

This card doesn't draw my attention since I never liked the Hiltons. The last time that I stayed at one of their locations, the bathroom tub have cracks in them and it started to smell.
I booked a Hilton property in Daytona across the street from a massive rock festival in November using points. Remember, the 5th night free is MASSIVE and comes in handy in events like this where you stay 5 nights (it wasn't even planned, just worked out that way). The demand of hotels in the area sky rocketed, and I kind of figured it would, so booking with points/canceling with points is super easy as well. If I end up not going to the event, I have the peace of mind that I can just click cancel. Both Hilton and Southwest points I found are the best, no questions asked, just cancel if you can't make it without any hoops to jump through.
The property for a standard room when I originally booked was about 150$/night, I looked for the same dates about a month later for the same exact room, and it was going for 400$ plus/night!!!!. I spent about 120k pts for 5 nights (5th night free), so super good value here with all the different variables kicking in for my favor.
Long story short, using points, taking advantage of that 5th night free, and planning AHEAD of some event you may attend, will prove to be useful. I have a spot waiting for me, and now those that are late to booking something are all competing against each other for lodging and likely are going to be paying well more than they should (had they booked earlier like me).
I can not get MR points because I close two account in the past. Does this rule apply for delta miles or hotel points? Keep in mind that am allowed to apply for an MX card.
I just wish I would get a Surpass upgrade offer with the 150k or 180k points.

Amex WILL target you with big offers if you spend enough. I got offered the 125k signup for the Plat after 3k spend AND 10x on Gas stations/ supermarkets for first 6 months up to $15k. I also just accepted an upgrade on my Business Gold to plat for a 130k offer after 10k spend in 3 months instead of the usual 15k. I spend around 50k a year on business gold and 15k personally so not anything crazy but significant.

True story. People way over estimate the value of these points. I like the idea of using them for international, more luxury trips.
Hilton cards do have elevated SUBs right now, but (in my opinion) they're so much worse than the offers earlier this year. Was something like 150k points for $2k spend on the Surpass with the first AF waived and a $150 credit for using the card once.
