What are the 5 best credit cards for beginners? Best starter cards to get started on credit card points? Wondering what makes a credit card a good starter card or keeper card?
You’ve come to the right place.
Here at Bougie Miles we’re all about traveling as luxuriously as possible while spending as little cash as possible.
Amazon Rewards Card
No annual fee. Amazon Prime members get unlimited 5% cash back on all amazon purchases.
Chase Freedom Unlimited
No Annual Fee. Earn unlimited 1.5% cash back on every purchase.
OR
Chase Freedom
Earn 5% cash back on up to $1,500 in combined purchases in bonus categories each quarter you activate and unlimited 1% cash back on all other purchases.
Bank of America Cash Rewards Card
3% cash back in the category of your choice: gas, online shopping, dining, travel, drug stores or home improvement/furnishings, 2% at grocery and wholesale clubs and1% on all other purchases PLUS an additional 25-75% for Preferred Rewards Members
Amex Blue Cash or Amex Every Day
3% cash back at Supermarkets, 2% cash back at grocery stores, and 1% back on everything else. I like throwing in an Amex here because they tend to offer high credit limits which will have a positive impact on your credit score
Another low or no fee Chase Card like the Chase Sapphire Preferred is a great option here because you want to get your Chase cards before you’re over 5/24.
You want your first few rewards cards to be long term keeper cards. This means either a no-fee or a low fee card that you will want to keep around year after year. One important thing to remember is that your average age of credit is an important factor in the calculation of your credit rating and choosing keeper cards as your first few cards will help your average age of credit number.

Is the Amazon Store card the same as Chase?
I like your suggestions. I started rebuilding my credit last year and got these:
1 Discover It
2 Chase Freedom
3 Amazon Store Card
4 Paypal Mastercard
5 ?
I really want the sapphire preferred, but afraid I might get denied. Heard they are becoming stricter recently.
